Zappa liked some Neil Young music??

Yessir! It's that Canadian influence that made his music so wonderful! 8)

"I had a piece of paper that said I wouldn't get sued for "Punky's Whips". Warner Brothers didn't have that piece of paper, so they got nervous and removed it from the album."

Even Joe Perry is getting into the act by using a Zappa quote. The Martin Mull reference is a bit of a clanger though. Quote to the third power? Perry quotes Mull quoting Zappa??

Bastards. I remember when Zappa In New York first came out and thinking that as a double vinyl it was a bit thin on the ground. I didn't know at the time about Punky's Whips and it would have been a much more substantial album if that was included - it's a monster composition. Of course, the CD with all the extras, is certainly a bargain.

One of my favorite Zappa quotations has always been (and I think this is accurate, but don't have my Real Frank Zappa Book here at work):

"Missionary evangelism is the height of cultural arrogance."

The next song is called "Läther". It was formerly called "I Promise Not To Come In Your Mouth".

"For the records, folks: I never took a shit on stage, and the closest I ever came to eating shit anywhere was at a Holiday Inn buffet in Fayetteville, North Carolina, in 1973." Explaining away that moldy old urban legend of him eating sh!t onstage at one of his concerts.

When you compute the length of time between The Event, & The Nostalgia For The Event, the span seems to be about a year less in each cycle. Eventually within the next quarter of a century, the nostalgia cycles will be so close together that people will not be able to take a step without being nostalgic for the one they just took. At that point, everything stops. Death By Nostalgia. -FZ

We could jam in Joe's Garage
His mama was screamin'
His dad was mad
We was playin' the same old song
In the afternoon 'n' sometimes we would
Play it all night long
It was all we knew, 'n' easy too
So we wouldn't get it wrong
All we did was bend the string like...
