The Freak Zone on BBC 6music did a programme about the N.W.W list aout 2 or 3 years ago.

That is the only reference to the list I have seen in the mainstream media

Well, I got this and watched it this weekend. Not great, not terrible. Good idea of examining FZ's influences but it could have been much better. New interviews with Duke, Preston, and (Ian) Underwood.

I just ordered this from Chrome Dreams. If they can add one pound for World Delivery of a DVD, what is Barfko Swill's problem? Now I realise all I'll be getting is an ordinary padded envelope via regular airmail, but that's really all I'm getting from Barfko and it will take about the same time. I can send stuff like this internationally way cheaper than Barfko and I'm just a private individual.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting the Freak Out List DVD, what I've heard about it has got me curious and I wouldn't mind having a few Zappa documentary items around to watch occasionally. I've got the Classic Albums one and the BBC TV interview with him from around 1991. So a few more would be good. Any recommendations?

Edit: The BBC thing is 1993 and it's not just the interview, it's a wide ranging doco as well, even though it only lasts 45 minutes in total, and some of it comes from after the interview so it's not totally clear when the interview itself was carried out. Does anyone know?

This just arrived in my mailbox this week. And I must say, it's VERY well done. They do an excellent job at explicitly going over FZ's influences and showing why FZ wrote and blended the particular styles of music that he did, while also juxtaposing popular trends that co-existed at the time...

Cheers Cleon, I suppose I should have checked Donlope. I had discovered elsewhere that it first viewed on TV in mid March 1993 and then re-aired in July, so the interview had to be before March. So, it was January, but in the reworked version of the doc aired on 17th December they say the interview was in the last months of his life which is a bit of an exaggeration 11 months before he died. It's a good doc though, I'm impressed with what they crammed into 45 minutes.
