It must be because you are probably the carrier of an unlimited gift of music, being soaked with natural talent, being able to play any given instrument and have composed 3000+ songs and colaborated with some of the greatest musicians on Earth. That must be the reason you keep finding talented performances such as Ike's and The Central Scrutinizer and Hermeto's boring and make no reservations for your dull, negative and grumpy comments and critic.

Why don't you ask your compatriot's opinion about Hermeto? Mats Öberg, who has played with him, not mentioning Zappa. Oh, wait, based on 95% of you posts, you probably think you are better than this people when the subject is music. Probably, not just music, but you are more knowledgeable in any subject. And not just these people, but better that everyone...

Maybe you get off with Roxette and we all have our informed opinions

I am always honored that the threads I, Mr God and UFO believer, begin are interesting to you, so you can comment simultaneously on different quite dormant ones, to express the depth of you very well informed opinions.

...or is there another agenda behind it, one of a sick and infantile mind, of hate and persecution, of prejudice and feeling of superiority? Nah, that is just my paranoia... :P

I just recently discovered Frank Zappa, and I'm EXTREMELY surprised to see so many Hermeto fans here!!! Hermeto is one of my favorite musicians of all time.

I'm 16 years old, and I'm a classical, flamenco, Brazilian, and jazz guitarist -- been playing for 10 years. Brazilian music is some of the most complex and rewarding out there... and Hermeto is one of the best examples, along with Antonio Carlos Jobim (whose compositions were admittedly much more orthodox). But Hermeto, like Zappa, defies categorization, and I'm very glad to see that his music is appreciated.

I'm American myself (from Minnesota, to be exact), but I love music from all over the world. My parents always had world music playing in the house, so I was exposed to a ton of genres from a very early age. But Brazilian jazz is one of my favorite genres.

Slaves Mass is my favorite Hermeto album... what a tour de force. Cherry Jam has to be the greatest avant-garde jazz piece ever... and Mixing Pot? Wow... heck, every tune on that album is amazing. :)

I would be delighted if someone made a video with the studio cherry jam and made a video for YT, although I believe it runs for some 13+ minutes.

This is the only live cut from that album I can think of, along Chorinho para ele. So here it is

Though I am yet to listen to them, I have just recieved Slaves Mass and Sao Nao Toca Quem Nao Quer on CD- thanks for the recommendation Bulerias!-, and, as I'm preparing them for putting on some DAPs (ripping, tagging, coverting etc), I'd very much like it if I could have the Brazilian track titles translated into english (as close as possible; I understand the possibility of some elements not translating well do to differences in language structure etc). For Slaves Mass this is already done, in large, on CD liner notes, but for Sao Nao Toca Quen Nao Quer, it is not and, although I've searched a fair bit, I cannot find anywhere/any site/any article online that provides this. I could use an online language translation service/tool, but having never done this, and having heard they can be unreliable, would prefer an endorsed, certified translation by someone else ;). Anyone know what these track titles transalte to?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Só Não Toca Quem Não Quer [Only If You Don't Want It You can't do it or Only if you don't want, you can't play an instrument...]

1. De Sábado prá Dominguinhos (From Satruday to Little Sunday or From Saturday to Dominguinhos - double meaning, since Little Domingos or Dominguinhos is a popular Brazilian accordion master)
2. Meu barco (My boat)
3. Viagem (Trip) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrFFEpick3A
4. Zurich (Zürich) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bm36CPlVctw
5. O correio (The Post Office or more precisely The Mail Service)
6. Intocável (Unplayable)
7. Flávia (common girl name here)
8. Candango (Candango - It is a nickname gentilic to the inhabitants of Brasilia, since it was the pejorative term for the people who went there to build the city from scratch)
9. Suíte Mundo Grande (Big World Suite)
10. Parnapuã (the indigenous name of a river if I am not mistaken)
11. Canção da Tarde (Afternoon song)
12. Mente Clara (Clear Mind)
13. Ilha das Gaivotas (Seagull Island - One of my very favourites)
14. Rebuliço (confusion, chaos) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZ9o2uShgMk
15. Convento (Convent - i.e. a building full of nuns)
16. Quiabo (Okra) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqagKEL7NXA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzSd6la0jv0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnZ1l_TNfTU
17. Menina Azul (Blue Girl - One of my very favourites)
18. Garrote (Tourniquet, or could also mean young cattle)
19. Rancho das Sogras (The Ranch of the Mothers-in-law)

Holpe it helps... Enjoy, this album mixes amazing instrumentals with some regional music composed by the bassist's brother, I guess, with choir singing along...

Could I ask the same (of anyone) for Zabumbe-bum-A? Would be very much appreciated,

Thanks,

Steve

N.B.// I have the Warner Japan/WEA International- distributed through Victor Entertainment-, CD, Masterpiece Paper Sleeve Edition/2001 Reissue. Is this just reissued or is it remastered/remixed etc etc aswell? Couldn't find this info on the release (whats english anyway; can't speak or read Spanish or Japanese), nor on Discogs, Rate Your Music or Wikipedia, sources I use for backing up info on releases I aquire (anyone have any other such online sources of online databases on album releases they wouldn't mind sharing as it happens?).

Thanks for the (speedy) response! 8)

These requests have simply been for the purposes of accurately/most informedly recording the naming and/or tag info on my rips of these albums in my digital/audio file music libraries (both .FLAC/lossless and mp3/lossy). I havn't actually listened to any Hermeto yet as I've been engrossed in the various works of Buckethead I have/have been aquiring recently and/or much of the FZ material I have and/or have and havn't listened to at all or extensively yet! Heremto's on my intention-to-listen-to-very-soon list and is one of the artists whose (some of the) material I have I'm really excited about/looking forward to listening to:mrgreen:
