Very cool and well timed. I'd like to see a non-solarized version only because it makes his face looked a bit sketched. Awesome! Sepia might give it a cool look as well.

The solarized Imperial looks creepy to me.

Awesome, jg! But why ruin it with cheesy 'post-production'?
I'd really love to see the unadulterated original print -- :)

Really nice! I love how Frank is looking directly at the camera but out of the corner of his eye. Makes it more interesting.

Very nice photo. Interesting it dates from Nov 1972. I thought FZ had shortened his hair by the Petite Wazoo tour, but maybe he told Gail (or someone) to grab the scissors at some point after that?

Well, I just checked the Petit Wazoo reviews (via Charles Ulrich's fantastic site) and the review that mentioned FZ' hair being shorter now dates from a concert in December. So there.

Judging from this kind of SG-model, the Sennheisser microphone, and his look: the photo should be from 1973/74/75, not 1972.

Well, for what it's worth, here's a gallery of various FZ 70s concert pics, incl. some from another November 1972 gig which give evidence that Frank already had SG model as early as 1972: http://cartersxrd.net/Site/Performances ... Zappa.html

In 1972 he was using another SG with P-90 pickups. The other SG is the Roxy-SG with Humbuckers.

I still insist that this photo is NOT from 1972.

Frank and SG far back as 1970 bath festival, they are probably the same Guitar, new neck with plain wood finish on head stock and the drill holes ready for when the bridge comes off,too fit a
maestro tremolo arm.seen Pete Townsend with the exactly same holes same amount same place which i think he done the opposite by taking maestro off other than put it on

He had hair length like this in 1973! See Roxy and Stockholm footage for instance. From when is this photo? I still doubt that he used this guitar before 1973.

Well, it is quite likely from 1972, as the location is Charlotte, North Carolina. FZ did not play at that location in any point during 1973-75. But it is weird how much grubbier FZ looks on the photos at the link I posted before (which include Petit Wazoo pics from another Nov 72 gig).
