After the DZW site being so polite,fun,insightful and informative,this spam crap puts Zappa.com at a real disadvantage.Hell,even some of the regular posters here would only cause grief and consternation over there.But to have all that spam taboot,it sure do take the fun outta' things anywhere.Do other iconic R&R star sites suffer from this same kind of bombardment of spam?

For starters, being prevented from posting links during the first ten posts would help, but I'm sure there are other ways as well. At Packard Goose, the only way to join up is to send an email to the admin, which is a big responsibility for the admin but there is no spam. The level of spam we have here is just indicative of the lameness of the anti spam effort. A little bit of inconvenience when you join up is well worth what can be avoided.

I actually seldom incounter the SPAM since they removed the "active topics" option, I use the "your post" option since I am on most of the existing threads (which are SPAM free) and if I am looking for new stuff I go to "unread posts" and the SPAM is easily negotiated since it stands out like a sore thumb...

That's what I do Plook but clicking on the unread posts link I just hate seeing the list cluttered with masses of spam posts.

I spoke too soon. Will somebody please find this Nekeuroxerb guy and smash his face in. 60 times and counting the with same post. He's here right now posting more, every time I refresh the unread posts list there are more. Asshole!!

In fact, there are only two genuine posts on the first page of the unread posts list. Talk about crapping over our forum.

205 posts in fewer than 5 hours since joining, and counting ......

We need a new way to get rid of this pondscum. Admin can't be on call 24 hours a day, although once or twice a day would be nice. In 24 hours there'll be over 1000 duplicate posts, and in a week or two there won't be a user left to save the site for.

How about making it automatic that if a post is reported by three separate users it's automatically deleted and if a user has three separate posts automatically deleted then the user itself is deleted. That sounds like a plan to me but I'm no computer geek and I don't know if it's possible.

We can't go on like this.
