Mrs Zappa during the Q/A session for Zappa at RHouse stated to a general query about stuff coming out, that BCP will be out in January.

Jeff Simmons was also onstage too. He approached Herbie in '69 for a £100, as he was momentarily skint and was given Lucille instead! I'm iinterested to learn that he was only 19 when the song and Lp was recorded.

Sorry man, but I did not get what BCP does stand for.
Is it Bance Ce Phis or Bhe Coxy Pvd?

I hope this will turn out to be true, since i'm a great fan of the original Bat Chain Puller.
By original, i mean the ones that have been out on various bootlegs for some years.

Me, i own the ''re-make'' (Shiny Beast album, which i never really enjoyed that much) and the album called Dust Sucker:

http://www.beefheart.com/datharp/albums/boots/dustsucker.htm

This album however i do really enjoy and is one of my all-time favorite Beefheart albums.
Almost every song is a killer (except for Brick Bats, that one only annoys me because of Don's overdubbed sax playing) and Floppy Boot Stomp, Owed T'Alex and Thousandth and Tenth Day Of The Human Totem Pole are some of Beefheart's (and of course the Magic Band's) best work !

According to John French's superb book, the original tapes have been remixed by Dweezil, Ahmet and Denny Walley, the original slide-guitar player for the original session.
So, at least there was 1 person present at the remixing that was also present during the original recordings, so that's another reason to be curious about Gail's statement.

Also, next year january will be Don Van Vliet's 70th birthday, so to release the album then would make some sense.
Although i don't think Don could really care a hot rats ass anymore...

Apologies Maroual, I hope you have checked the topic since your last as a few folks have filled in the rest.

What do your suggestions mean?

Mrs Zappa asked me to talk to the camera about something, so watch out for UK SkyArts around 21st Dec I guess.

There's a tape circulating that sounds light years better than Dust Sucker.

Yeah, thanks.

My suggestions were just sarcasms about The Roxy DVD and Dance Me This... nothing special

Please, Gail: wouldn't a pre-order announcement on 1/15 DVV 70 B-Day be a marvelous thing? Yes, I do believe it would.

Can't wait for this masterpiece by the Captain to be released. I have a CD-R of the original, don't know the source, but I know it's not the Ozit "Dust Sucker" one. It has the proper running order, w/ two versions of Candle Mambo. Will be great to have a proper version with full artwork/liner notes.

Been reading the BCP section in Drumbo's book. No one has really heard the Dweezil/Ahmet/Walley '97? mix yet. I hope it's not drastically different. Maybe they'll include the original mix and the remix, who knows.

It will be fitting if this is released as mentioned.

I hope Gail doesn't decide to hold it up so as not to appear exploitative. She should just tell it like it is, that it was planned for his 70th B-day year. RIP DON VAN VLIET.

I'm sure the putative release was not planned to be exploitative, as I feel as we are all getting older things are getting onto the front burner as opportunities to benefit from them diminish; but another significant moment has been reached and has now passed with the loss of Don.

I'm wondering if there's even going to be a mention on the regular home page.

Indeed the question you ask has been (very quickly) suitably noted by the Zappa family, which I find quite moving:

I find this luminous generation has been marked by the calamity that many have failed to make their 70th birthdays. Don has just missed it by about 20 odd days.

Well that's good. I don't think JCB's passing was mentioned at all.

JCB's passing was particularly heartfelt here on the forum and I'm glad to say he led an active life right to the end and indeed reached 70. The Mothers seemed to be the oldest bunch of reprobates in their day. It is a wonder that they in the main have survived longer than many of their contemporaries
