No, I'm talking about Jimmy Carl Black, not Captain Beefheart. Please read what I wrote. I've bolded where I said JCB. But anyway, this will probably be the yardstick for who's on the outs with the ZFT - are they mentioned when they die?

Out of respect for Don Vliet and all of his, I hope this is still happening.

Nothing could bring greater joy to the Beefheart fanbase (well, except for acquiring an original oil) than the release of this album. PLEASE!

Beefhearts death and BCP coming out? Must be a plot! :-) Just kidding, that joke was tasteless.

Don's 70th has passed, and Gary Lucas has paid him his tribute, notwithstanding the sad circumstances.

It's the final countdown for a decent ZFT Bat Chain Puller release. Must we wait till the END of January?

I'll rejoice when this motherfucker is out!

I've never heard this, so I'd love to see it released. From the enthusiasm here, it must be release-worthy. Did Don himself ever have any thoughts on the release?

edit: Ha! Used a form of the word "release" in 3 consecutive sentences. Beat that!

I think I'll have a physical release when this motherfucking release is released, and my own private release party (of special things to do)!

Thank you for noticing that, Andrew. I'm now assured that this will happen soon, and restlessly wondering - WHEN?

Now that made me laugh, particularly the line : "Shut up, bitch and row!" (No disrespect to Don)

Was the music on the video overdubbed? As someone pointed out on YouTube the singing has an English accent.

Yes I believe the film is Don and his band performing another song from 1974 on the BBC's OGWT

It's "Upon the my oh my" -which is a great song, but not as funny as "Oh Postman O'Mine".

a couple years ago there was a bunch of youtube clips all called 'so-and-so' shreds: frank, clapton, jimi and so on. video of the stars but not music, a joke, a hoax. This seems a continuation or copy of that 'series'. Real video and maybe even music, but that's not Don singing.
funny, but not Don

Funnily enough, it had my kids laughing even though they didn't know the original video!

This is where you'd find the release date for Bat Chain Puller if the ZFT had been a normal client, with some interest in promoting their goods

So long as Gail doesn't do the liner notes...

I'm halfway through Drumbo's book. Needs a bit of editing as he has a tendency to paraphrase interviewees and then show the actual full quote, which is cool for accuracy or completeness, but makes reading the book hard work. I'm learning a lot though, and I would recommend it. It's nothing if not thorough.
