Quote: The Paramount Theatre building still exists and was acquired by the City of Portland in the early 1980s. After extensive refurbishing, it reopened in 1984 as the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, home of the Oregon Symphony. The City owns the building which is part of the Portland Center for the Performing Arts. The marquee was restored to the original theatre name: "Portland."

On Joe's XMasage's first track "Mormon Xmas Dance Report" FZ's first wife mentioned a gig FZ did at the Mormon Church Recreation Hall in Pomona. Unfortunately I can't find a picture. I assume it's the Curch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints at 175W, Willow St, Pomona, 91768 Pomona.

Instead of here's a nice pic of Brigham Young who led the LDS Church from 1844 until his death in 1877. Hallelujah.

Fritz, your work on this thread is fantastic!

I saw Zappa three times but never at Olympia. I did see several concerts there. When they tore it down they let fans come in and get as many bricks from the building as they wanted, for free. I only got a few but one guy was loading up his pickup truck and said it was his third truckload, and planned to get several more. He said he was going use them for building. A couple of years later I saw him on the news, showing off his creation - a garage that was a miniature model of Olympia, made of Olympia bricks.

I'm wondering what other people experience when loading these picture intensive pages. I get lots of question mark icons when I first open the page. If I load each image separately it goes into the browser cache, so next time I load the page, all the pictures load up quickly with few exceptions. I though it was Safari that was doing this to me until my family stayed at my mother-in-law's last christmas and everything loaded up first time there. So maybe my isp is doing something in the background with it's firewall or something.

Any thoughts anyone?

BTW Fritz, I noticed some of your pics on previous pages don't load up due to permissions and other availability issues.

This one asks for a password: http://www.providence.edu/NR/rdonlyres/ ... alumni.jpg

This one brings up a 404: http://www.midatlanticgateway.com/Resou ... center.jpg

So, no-one has any thoughts or had a similar experience or knows what's happening?

When I've pulled up these pages, the pictures take a little while to load sometimes, but they get there eventually. I've never had any of the problems you described. Maybe it is the isp?

Ooops. As I clicked on reply, this http://www.providence-thing asked for a password. Strange. I'll delete this one.

I can't delete it, since I don't know which picture it is. Do you remember, Poly ?

Gannon Auditorium, Erie
1974-11-12

From Wiki:

The Hammermill Center is a 2,800 seat basketball arena home to the Gannon Golden Knights located on the campus of Gannon University in Erie. The Facility was originally known as the Gannon Auditorium, or affectionately called "The Audi" by long time Gannon faithful. The facility was rededicated and renamed the Hammermill Center in February 1983 in honor of the Hammermill Paper Company, whose generosity enabled the University to make necessary repairs and improvements.
