How long do I have to wait until I can post/reply, etc. with the big boys? Are my 10 "trial" posts limited to the activation section?
I'm pretty sure you can post anywhere on the forum after your first activation post.

the 10 trial post limit has to do with not being able to post links, or sending/receiving private messages.

*replying here, because we can't reply to posts in the activation thread.

There was a live Zappa album that had black napkins on it. The particular version has the most awsome sax solo from Michael Brecker. Can anyone tell me which album this track is on and is it available on the web site. Im desperate for this track. Zappa rules, peace out

There's no Black Napkins on there though, unless you're thinking of Black Page?

forgot about that one. thanks, pedro.
now, I'm wondering if the person who posted this on the activation-thread will see our attempts to answer his question.

don't new members get a notice of some sort when they sign up, that older members can't reply in the activate-thread?

here's another one, from yesterday:
islwynpaul wrote:
The first Frank Zappa album I bought was a second hand 'We're only in it for the Money' in the late 70's. I spent the next 40 years catching up with the man's output. It was the beginning of a lifelong love of all his music. I bought it because many years before in the early 70's I had a mate who first introduced me to Zappa and played this album constantly. However by then I was well into soul, reggae and R&B and found Zappa too much. When I saw the cover and had the opportunity I purchased the vinyl copy and a love of the man's music was born. When did you buy your first Zappa album, which was it and why?

This pops up in another thread, but I will rewind...My friends and I were passing around a copy of Overnight Sensation, then Apostrophe when it came out, the way we shared stuff it probably didn't matter who bought it as long as it made it to everyones house. I Bought One Size Fits All when it came out and Jeff bought Roxy. I grew up on a horseshoe street (maybe thats why I'm so lucky) and everyone was there from the late 50's well into the 80's so we had a lot of kids on that block, verying in age bringing a lot of diverse music to the table.

well, plook, I didn't really mean for that topic to continue here.
I just quoted that activation-post to make the poster aware of the fact that we can't answer to his post in the activation-thread.
anyway, there are bunches of old threads on that same theme all over the place...

If the person thinks they can only post in the activation section for the first 10 posts it might be worth it.

I'll leave it up to mikey to explain that to them...

if it's not already in the info they get when they sign up.
in that case it's their own fault if they don't get it...

Jesus you can be a prick some times. As I've explained elsewhere, the sign up process here is a fucking joke. I went through it myself a couple of months ago just to see what it was like and it's horrible.

10 posts is enough to get all the bells and whistles on the forum page like search and pm buttons and so on. But until some lazy prick gets around to checking your posts to any of the main threads other than this one and the frequent questions one then these are the only ones you see your posts in. Then, when they finally check your other posts they logically appear in order at the time you originally posted them. So you have to keep checking into the past to see if you've been vetted yet. That is a fucking dog's breakfast. If they're really slack and you wait more than a few days, it's an extra pain in the arse.

Seriously, if I wanted to purposefully piss someone off, I could find much easier ways to do it.

Newbies, don't listen to this guy, this situation really is ridiculous, but please persevere as once you're in fully, there are plenty of cool people here.

Awww, I know the deal. I'm just stuffing those 10 posts to get them out of the way.
I hosed up my old account and found no way to get it fixed so rebooted myself as Fred Natural.
It may not be the best forum I've used but that it exists at all is a miracle.
Where else can you go and swap words with people who care about the missing 12 seconds on the newest Zappa cd?
