Sheik Yerbouti right guys?! JAY-KAY-EL-OH-EL!... I hate myself sometimes. Seriously though, all my Zappa-loving friends hate The Man From Utopia, but I think it's pretty great. Plus, the cover's sick. I had the vinyl mounted on my wall in high school.

YCDTOSA Vol6

It's like a comedy greatest hits albums. Tons of stuff from Sheik Yerbouti, Joes Garage, Apostrophe, Overnite Sensations. Lots of stuff from 200 motels("Shove it right" is probably one of the best sonically sounding Flo & Eddie tunes on a Zappa record). Some extremely tight '88 band stuff. Not to mention some great instrumental pieces; Thirteen, Black Napkins, an amazing Jazzy version of Let's make the water turn black.

Everyone always talks about vol2 (still probably the best of the 6), but man... 6. It just doesn't seem to get any love.

YCDTOSA 6 was my fourth Zappa album so I'll always have a soft spot for it, but I think there are better entries in the series.

All of them! Seriously though, it seems that Bongo Fury and Tinseltown Rebellion don't get much props, at least from what I've seen online. It's a coin toss between those two, and maybe the Sleep Dirt, Studio Tan type stuff.

I agree Tinsel Town Rebellion didn't get enough recognition! And what about the Roxy & Elsewhere album?

Yes the Man From Utopia but the original release in 83 (ie the vinyl version), the CD version is so bloated, but the original vinyl album is overlooked, its a great album with lots of original music in it... shame about the CD version.

I like TMFU alot too. The instrumentals are all really great and everything else is pretty cool and unique even for Zappa. I dig the Radio is Broken for example. Kinda unique also in that there are no FZ guitar solos and I don't even miss them. The Luigi and the Wise Guys crap on the cd is a total waste of space imo.

I'd agree on that.
An often overlooked, fantastic album. The best FZ live album besides Roxy IMO.

So do I. Never get enough of Titties & Beer, The Illinois Enema Bandit & The Torture Never Stops.
One of my favorite periods of FZ's career.

I know I'm in the minority here, but PP for me is fascinating. The music is wonderful - FZ's guitar sound at its best in my view - and the chat puts the listener on the road with the band in a way that nothing else could. A genuinely worthwhile audio documentary to my ears.
