Currently, we are under a "Tornado Watch". About a half-hour's drive west of us, they are under a full-blown "get indoors, do not enter this area" Tornado Warning. Might be in for an interesting evening!

Do you get many of them? Tornadoes, I mean?

Our season is May to August, averaging 15 to 20 a year. One touched down in the London/Godrich area (about a 45 minute drive from here) this past Sunday, killing one person.
August 20, 2009 (about 5 months after Sabbs moved to Canada) eighteen confirmed tornadoes touched down in Ontario, the largest tornado outbreak in Canadian history. Sabby likes to make an entrance, you know.

Rt 80 west is full of people coming from N Carolina, S Jersey and most of lower NYC and Long Island due to the Hurricane. Governor Cuomo has shut down all of NYC subways as of 12 noon tomorrow......crazy!!

Yahoo cleon, love the Beach Boys, I could go for some of that right now.

Thanks to Rose for holding the fort down on the coast, I'm still at the hotel in training up in Boston. I went home for a little bit Friday to take the air conditioners out...and got the evacuation call, (I live on the CT coast).

Storm came through, not so bad in the wind department by the time it made landfall...but they sure lost control of the power grid, a shitload of people without power. I just got off the phone with Rose who tried to reset the phone/internet, but even though the power is back on at my house(it mostly stayed on), the cable is still out.

Interesting, hurricanes Gloria and Bob had much higher winds, almost double, and made landfall right near my house...yet it seems there were no-where near the power outtages..I heard about half a million of my neighbors are still without....the twin town to mine is largely down.

Could have been worse though...I think the shear and the eye skirting the coast took the winds down quite a bit before it got to NY / CT.

Not bad up here where I am now near Boston. My cell phone just went off with an automated call from work asking if I am safe and need assistance..."Press 1 if you are safe and don't need assistance." That was nice of them...I pressed 1, they didn't have an option for beer delivery.

So much for Irene..next...

It's been great lately. The flood level is going down, and the days are just slightly hot.

Are you in or near a flood cal?

Temps are in the high eighties with some T-cells forming in the afternoon. No rain just lightning strikes causing brush fires that are wind blown.Bad combo, makes the fire burn faster than you can run!

We're about 13 blocks from some Missouri River flooding, but not any any danger because of the terrain between here and there.

Changed the summer tyres to winter tyres yesterday. Fuck. I hate winter. Mind you, one of the advantages of growing older is that time (and the seasons) pass more quickly. On the other hand, you're dead sooner.

Life is just an illusion anyway, so why worry?

Sunny, Fall weather, in the high 60's, lows in the low 40's.
