Whats up with that drug DMT everyone who takes it sees this Yogi guy mummbling and then they end up in what can only be called a UFO abduction situation...they all seem to have the same hallucination and hallucinations are supposed to be unique to an individual. Apparently this prompted to Lady scientist to try the drug and she confirmed she had the same experience and believes that it actually happens rather than it being an hallucination. Further she believes this drug to be some kind of gateway to the spirtual realm (and therefore God) and she was I believe an Athiest before her research into DMT.

What say you... :smoke:

I still have to study about this...

But you don't need chemical trendy chemical amusement aid to hallucinate.

Stare fixedly straight into the patter and relax, breath mindfully and after one minute stare away from the screen. DISCLAIMER: Do at your own risk, don't blame me if you have a seizure! :smoke:

I started reading that book today and the introduction was talking about his work with Zen Buddists Monks and my daughter was doing a research program at UCSD about 3 years ago that was based on another proffessors work with Zen Buddist Monks. So I sent it to her she is interested in this type of research dealing with using mindfulness (that is what they call it) in place of drugs or in conjunction with drugs to help people with psychological problems. She designed a study for Bipolar people and it was so successful she spoke at Stanford on their results and after she graduated she was contacted a year later to go with the Mindfulness proffesor to Universaty of Massachusetts to speak. They are still continuing the study at UCSD to this day.

Quote:
Only faith gives us access to theological truths. The ways of God are not open to reason, for God has freely chosen to create a world and establish a way of salvation within it apart from any necessary laws that human logic or rationality can uncover.

The horizontal axis concerns WHAT YOU BELIEVE:

The vertical axis concerns WHAT YOU THINK WE CAN KNOW:

These four labels can be very useful in describing the way we feel about gods. They can combine together to make more precise labels.

An atheist agnostic is someone who does not believe in gods and also thinks that the existence of gods cannot be known. This might mean that they don’t believe in gods because they haven’t seen any evidence that supports their existence.

A theist gnostic is someone who believes in a god/gods and thinks that the existence of gods can be known. This position is usually referred to as just ‘theist‘, since people who believe in gods, usually also think that their existence can be known.

An atheist gnostic is someone who does not believe in gods, and who thinks that we can know that gods do not exist. A fairly unusual position, they might think they have found proof of the non-existence of gods, or might have been persuaded by life experiences.

A theist agnostic is someone who believes in gods, but thinks that they could not know for sure that their god exists. Another fairly unusual position, as people who have faith in gods usually also think that their god can be known to be real.

So we have two common positions: atheist agnostic and theist
and two less common positions: atheist gnostic and theist agnostic
and we can change the graph to reflect that:
