Due for Spring 2012 release, said to include unreleased FZ material. I'm excited about this one...and the strong possibility of a live show to promote.

Website is underworks but ya get a killer Drowning Witch teaser.

The site is now up and running, and reveals that the works left unperformed at the time of Frank's death that the Ensemble will premiere in its 2012-13 season are Numbers 6-9...of course, we already have #s 6 & 7 (http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/songs/Number_7.html)

In an interview with Brian Coughlin of the Fireworks Ensemble in the middle of 2012, he said that GZ felt “there wasn’t enough of Frank’s original intent” in the recordings for their album, and they “had to come up with something more faithful if we wanted her consent to continue with the project.”

They apparently have now done this, and a release date of June 2013 was briefly listed at their website. This has since disappeared, so who knows what's what now?

What does that mean? Not enough of the original intent? I don't understand. Perhaps Gail could try and define what this is?

She'll have to call Gary Titoney to define what the 'posers original content-intent was. Only the blowhole 'poser knows fer sure, fer sure.

Maybe it means they didn't grease Gail properly.

Perhaps. But I'd like to see what she has to say about it. Does it mean they are not getting the notes the same as FZ or they are changing the composition too much?

Me, too. But I suspect there will be unspoken politics involved.

They probably didn't put the "eyebrows" on it. Or perhaps just not enough "eyebrows"
Its too bad, this all sounded to promising.

Original intent from the guy who changed his stuff endlessly? Preposterous. Bollocks. A liability to the legacy. Zappa coulda been a bona fide canonical classic by now, if his legacy had been supported by real understanding and vision. Anal Retention is not the way to go. Too bad, these family trust executive decisions rub off on FZ's reputation.

Just outrageous. She seems to know everything better: it seems that we have the second most well-known ear in history, after Van Gogh...

How sad it is to remember all the project that went wrong BECAUSE of GZ. I personally know quite a few of those: like when a symphonic orchestra almost had to cancel a full concert BECAUSE Mrs Zappa couldn' decide whether they' are good enough to play the pieces. Finally when she decided (and said "yes"), the some 80 piece orchestra ha only some 4 days (!) for the rehearsal. Is it for "defending the music", to make it better?...

Shame, shame, shame.

Did the Ensemble Ascolta ever release a CD/DVD of that performance IB? Is it on Zappa records? :?

I get the impression GZ (Zappa Records) bought the rights so she could block the release.
Meantime, try this...

That sounds weird. Why buy the rights when you can simply refuse to let them use the songs?
