I thought this might be of interest to the folks on this forum.
I would like to hear Flakes, Broken Hearts.... and Bamboozled by Love

DZ said......Hi Everyone,

I'm currently making plans for the February ZPZ tour in California and I thought I might write to see if anyone is willing to take a moment to help me with some suggestions for material.

My plan is to organize the show in decades. 60s-70s-80s. If you have a moment I would like to hear some suggestions for which material you'd most be interested in hearing. I will take it all into consideration as I make my plans for 2012.

Please join this group :http://www.dweezilzappaworld.com/groups/195

I look forward to hearing your suggestions. Please keep in mind that we obviously won't be able to learn everything and we will have limited amounts of rehearsal time.

That said, we are highly motivated...
What are your ideas?

Thanx for posting this. While I like ZPZ, the DZ site is lame imo so I almost never go there. If I had my choice it would be more instrumental compositions as opposed to the repeated Apostrophe/OS that they've been sticking to. Howz about a little compositional investigation, like digging out old arrangements of String Quartet or Dog-Meat? Howz about the never-performed Down Beat version of Little House? (OK, someone prove me wrong, I'm going from the cuff here) Howz bout more Synclavier compositions transcribed? The Big Medley? Wouldn't Agency Man be appropriate for 2012? Hilarious how many people are basically asking DZ to learn FZ solos.

I just want CP3...
60s would be great too, and 80s. DZ has over-played the 70s songs a little.

Anything but Apostophy. (') That shits going on two tours old man.

How's about Joe's Garage? Played all the way through with actors, singers and dancers. Split stage/up/down or in the round! Now that would be something :!: ( I hear Ike's not to busy.Ray & Napi are playing around so are Flo & Eddie!) I'm just sayin'. 8)
I'd love to hear JG with Flo & Eddie! What a cool musical trip that would be :!:

I was thinking some Joe's Garage stuff would be good too. Maybe not the whole thing (although that would be great) but maybe a suite like Wet T-Shirt Nite/Toad-o Line/Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?/Lucille. I'd also like some of the nifty 80's instrumentals like Alien Orifice, Moggio, Tink Walks Amok, and We Are Not
Alone. From the 60's "Brown
Shoes Don't Make It".

Okay, maybe he didn't, but that is how I recall it. Please help my memory a bit on this one. I recall the stage rotation was stopped and the number of shows doubled for one of the FZ tours that stopped there, and heard at the time it was because Frank didn't like the rotating stage?

Please enlighten me...

It was stopped until TW opened and then stopped again for him to exit. Then The Mothers boarded. After FZ was aboard he said and motioned to "let it spin" and then it went around & around, again & again until the end.He played most all of (') Apostrophy.Eric Clapton was at The Cow Palace 20miles up the road at the same time.So he played some Clapton licks just so we didn't miss anything. He didn't fuck around to much. There was a ring of empty seats around the place 8-12 rows deep.I believe it pissed him off.The first 10-12 rows were full, (expensive seats $6.00.) then 8-12 rows of scattered couples here and there, then the 'cheap' seats.Full.($3.50.) First time I heard FZ do Whippin' Post. The stage was turning and the light guy forgot his que and FZ sez "A little moon light on my tweezers please, thank you.",right at the part on Montana were he sings/sez "with my tweezers gleaming in the moon lighty-nite."A little moonlight on..........get the picture? I hope that rings a bell for you.

Uncle Bernie's Farm

I'm dreaming . . . (Oh no-o-o!)

There's a bomb to blow yo mommy up
A bomb for your daddy too (ouch.)
A baby doll that burps & pees
A case of airplane glue
A hungry plastic troll
To scarf yo buddy's arm
A box of ugly plastic things marked:
Uncle Bernie's Farm!

There's a little plastic congress
There's a nation you can buy (I'll take two.)
There's a doll that looks like mommy
She'll do anything but cry (I seen her.)
There's a doll that looks like daddy
He's a funny little man
Push a button & ask for money
There's a dollar in his hand (check his wallet.)

We gotta send Santa Claus back to the Rescue Mission
Christmas don't make it no more
Don't you know that murder & destruction
Scream the toys in every store (think this'll sell in New York?)

There's a man who runs the country
There's a man who tried to think
And they're all made out of plastic
When they melt they start to stink
There's a book with smiling children
Nearly dead with Christmas joys!
And smiling in his office
Is the creep who makes the toys . . .

FZ: We got this car: when it hits the wall you see the guy dying . . . got the little plastic puddles of blood . . . by the car
I'M DREAMING . . .
Ray: He has intestines . . . he has plastic intestines you can
stuff back into his stomach . . .
FZ: There's this other thing, I've got bombs. I've got rockets, I've got a . . . I've got a stilson wrench & plastic brass knuckles . . .
Ray: And it comes with a tape recorder with sound effects . . .
FZ: We got a '39 Chevy . . .

Who cares about the rotating stage, I am impressed by the level of detail with which you recall the show, especially with all the pot you smoke... :smoke:

That's very cool, a rotating stage... The New London Theatre had one for its Cats production. In Cats, there's a massive tire at the back of the decor, that is lifted in the air towards the end of the show. Because the stage rotates 180 degs in the first song, there were people who'd come in after having purchased the 60 quid premium ticket to get a good seat: and find a massive tire almost completely blocking their view. :)

Anyway, just played Sleep Dirt. Since it's quite obscure I hope they can give it more exposure. It's a pretty good album.

News flash. Scott Thunes will be on bass for this tour. Evidently Pete has left the band.
