I don't have a clue what someone else's best is but I like the Tubes. Forgotten Rebels were pretty good fun the couple times I saw them. And I really liked the Ruts.

also of interest: some old Devo song, which I forgot the name of,

Didn't the Anti-Nowhere League do a version of "Why Don't You Do Me Right"?

Had 'So What' (B side 'Streets of London' way back-not a 4 track where I came from. Funny, but not essential.

Cartoon punk.

What constitutes a punk song?

I love The Damned, but beyond around 1977-78 it strikes me that that they were pushing beyond the whole 3 chord thing and doing some music that had a more lasting appeal and relevance.

'Under the Floor' from Strawberries was 'a bit of a masterpiece' if you ask me.

There's a prize for anyone who gets the reference.

Imposable for me to choose the best punk song ever, but I can tell you it most definitely would come from the our very own local PDX band Poison Idea!!

The moral of the song? Don't ever be friends with Jim Carroll, or you'll end up dead.

At the time I thought Jim Carroll was more of alternative poetry in song, ala Patti Smith, than a punk band/guy.
I know I didn't want to be friends with him,
because all his friends are dead, dead,
all his friends are dead.
I could relate to that sentiment back then,
alot of my friends died,died,
alot of my friends died.
I miss Jim and his poetry. :(
