It means that your ancestry is Portuguese - that you have forefathers from Portugal. Just like some smelt fishermen.

Possibly a throw-away line that has no deeper meaning. As Freud once said "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar."

Of what nationalities were the fisherman/hunters that were involved in the baby seal bashing? After all, that's a big part of the story.

That would explain her being so stubborn sometimes!

Trust me ... the women in my family are almost a total embarassment to the word "Portuguese" ... which has come to mean ... stuck up, full of shit, manipulating, opinionated, ugly, mean, hairy and very disrespectful of the lower classes, specially if they think they are "upper class" as in educated.

Nothing makes me want to throw up more ... and leave the room!

It seams last answers hit the spot!
I have experienced recently a psicopath atack wich consist in manipulate depress and frustrate activities covered by a aura off friendship frontaly, that way he gained access to my family, my profissional eforts as a musician, my social entitie creation to fund musical project and as final stab turned all associated menbers to rob music equipment, change passwords, and intrigued parental alienation; so close he was i fealted honoured he named our band's CD " Portuguese Extraction"
Wen we went play at zappanale Jimmi Carl Black said to him: ( i thougth it was ment to US ) yes i remeber u, u didnt pay us!
The guy im talking about is a portuguese central bank administrator, so the technic is called portuguese extraction and i low him below human nature, no for being portuguese but for being a trecherous cretin.
That closes the Protuguese extraction meaning= treacherous cretin thecnic!
