What an awesome band this is!

I picked up a vinyl, Mirage, yesterday out of a record bin in Amsterdam (it was Queen's Day) which was right in front of my fav music store Concerto. I played it, it was in mint condition, and I was blown away! 8)

I immediately bought the cd of The Snow Goose today and it also is classic stuff. Who else is into this lovely progband?

(Btw I also bought Mike Oldfield's Boxed set, also fucking awesome!!)

I like the first couple of Camel records. "Moonmadness" is another good one, you can definitely pick that one up if you like "Mirage" and "The Snow Goose".

Like with most other prog rock bands, I don't really care for anything they did after circa 1977, but the first few albums are nice.

Yeah, I already noticed that Moonmadness kinda got the same appreciation. What about the debut?

I have yet to get anything by this band...I take it those titles you listed are good for a n00b?

I started getting into these guys in 2005, and now own the first 5 studio albums as well as the double live disc A Live Record, which I'd highly recommend. Excellent stuff! I'd like to get more live material, but I'm having trouble finding it.

Yeah, Camel was pretty good. I had 'Mirage' and 'The Snow Goose' on LP a long time ago. Been thinking about getting them on CD.

I still smoke 'em, though.

I haven't heard this in a while, but I remember it being good as well. I should relisten it one of these days.

Okay, by now I got me the first 4 albums on cd with extra tracks.
Amazing melodic prog rock that sounds like a livelier Floyd with hints of Genesis and something uniquely their own added from the first album onwards. I wonder why I didn't discover it earlier.

And they know how to make great album covers.

What period of Floyd? If they sound more like the pre-Darkside Floyd, then I'm all over them.

Think of Meddle until Animals, but more dynamic.
Floyd are waaay more static than this.

Mirage and Moonmadness are good. I thought The Snow Goose was awful. Haven't really investigated further.
