I went to the Mudd Club once. I had just moved to NYC and I heard the Mudd Club was the cool place to go. Of course no one told me that no one would go out until around 11:00pm, so when I showed up at the Mudd Club at 9:00 there was only one other person at the bar. It was David Bowie. After a few drinks with David and a long wait, I saw what had to be one of the last performances of Nico formerly of the Velvet Underground.

My Dad owned a Business in Compton just across the railroad tracks from Watts, fortunately his shop survived and he ran the business until he died in 1980, the only business on Compton Blv. that never was robbed or burglarized.

GREAT story, thanks for sharing. I was at the Mudd Club a few times, too, once when "a guy with the blue mohawk walked in." Who was in the Plasmatics.

This is fun.

I hear the sound of marching feet . . . down Sunset Blvd. to Crescent Heights, and there, at Pandora's Box, we are confronted with . . . a vast quantity of PLASTIC PEOPLE
