DB, thanks for the Nite Dreems vids...never heard of the show, but it looked fun. Is the second part of the interview up? Did'nt know Frank wanted to sign The B52's! That woulda been charp an' cherry...too bad he did'nt have enough moola to lure them away from evil Warner Bros. He's very relaxed here, just shows what can happen when he's talking to someone who is'nt asking stupid questions.

FZ was in an unusually good mood, wasn't he?

I've tried to find the second part of the interview but it appears episode 13 hasn't been uploaded to youtube...yet.

The guy doing the interview sounds like a stoner to me.That is to say he's not stoned at the time, but does get stoned.Big difference back then, especialy amongst the young and hip crowd, like musicians. So that could be a contributing factor as to why FZ seems more relaxed in this interview. That and it's not a "print " interview helps too.IMO
As to The Cave DB,it was disco time and unless it was a live show,I stayed away. They where tryin' the new faceless DJ thing at that time.Spinning disco balls, heavy beat music.........thank ye gods for FZ's music or I'd have blown a 50 amp fuse, just by lookin' at it,eh!

Here's the ENTIRE VPRO doc from 2007, entitled, "A Pioneer Of Future Music." (I've only seen parts of it before):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpJOkWG6Bmk

My favourite part is the extremely rare tour footage of The Grand Wazoo band...

I can't seem to get this movie to play. Please can you tell me if the footage of the Grand Wazoo band is from the Oval concert in London in 1972 ?

Definitely not the Wazoo band at The Oval. It is is 47 minutes in. From what I can make out it is somewhere in Europe (possibly Holland or Germany) where the B&W silent footage is Frank really badly limping about from the Hotel or somesuch with Herbie holding the traffic up. Footage with the band on the bus and rehearsals in a concert hall. Then a colour film on a bus in London.

Thank you diplo...the reason I asked is because I was at the Oval concert and I know for sure that somebody in the crowd was filming this. He was stood kind of to the side of me and had a big cine camera thing on his shoulder.
I also like your signature it's the title of a song on Glastonbury Fayer as I remember...is it Brinsley Schwartz?....the old memory is a bit rusty these days 8)

Hello Microdot,

That is good to know about your witness account about filming at The Oval - was that the same gig as Jan Akkerman and Focus? There has to more footage. I think the Dutch team which made the original film heavily used in the VPRO doc before Frank was injured in mid Dec 1971 might have been back when he ventured out in public again. Look for the film on google I'm sure you will be able to access it for viewing. As for your eye witness account I am unaware of film from the Oval so I wonder if it is a local BBC or ITV news crew. Sadly a lot of film seems to be shot but we only ever see less than 20 seconds if it makes it onto TV and we have to wonder what gets hidden, forgotten or more usually wiped. As for my Blanket.. Its the track after Brinsley Schwarz on the LP set, its my favourite 'remarkable' track, it's Mighty Baby.
