I'm returning my copy of GW since it won't play on any player I own. When I went to the Amazon site to order another copy I saw this message:

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Anyone else have problems?

Seems to be a common problem with GW: http://www.lukpac.org/~handmade/patio/vinylvscds/wazoo.html

Oh. Does that mean that the ZFT will send me a replacement for the one I just ordered if it has issues?

Is this isolated to the ones from Amazon?

Nope. Mine from Best Buy (online) won't mount in any of my CPU optical drives. It will, however, play in both of my CD players (NAD C-515BEE & Yamaha CDC-697). I suspect that p'haps the CD's TOC or something similar is wonky.

FWIW, no issues ripping the other 23 2012 titles to lossless/FLAC.

I got the same message when I tried to order JABFLA from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. I ended up getting it from Best Buy.

I didn't get my original copy from Amazon. So it's not limited to Amazon.

Someone from the ZFT or UME needs to address this by communicating and acknowledging the issue, and explaining how they will be fixing it. (Considering how slowly both of these groups communicate, it could take a while.)

Once they fix the problem they should do something like changing the label number, or some other visible change on the packaging so we know whether we're buying a bad copy or good copy. Say "ZR 3849-A" for example.

I bought mine from Amazon and it played fine on the player here at work. When I get home, I'll try it on other players. Thanks for the heads up.

I purchased GW from Sunrise Records in London and it plays. My problem is that I can not rip it to my computer.

I ran into that problem with the first CD release of King Crimson's "Red". Played fine on home player, but wouldn't play on the computer.

I picked this up last night but haven't had a chance to play it. I'll give it a shot when I get home. Glad I kept the receipt. Thanks for the heads up, I plan on listening to these re-issues in chronological order so it will be a bit before I get to this one.

I ordered mine from Best Buy (decided to support local) and I hope ZFT and Universal send us a replacement if there's a problem. Has it been confirmed that ALL copies have trouble?

Got mine from Best Buy online. It has played in every drive and player that I have put it in. My only issue is when I ripped the tracks to my computer, it was very slow.

It was slow because of errors. If your software has a log it may reveal problems to you.

On first listen a couple of days ago it was fine. I ripped to computer as backup and it ripped with no errors.
When I read this today I played again on my CD player and it skipped three or four times on the first track!
Makes me ill, CDs are supposed to be immune to this sort of thing! WTF could they have possibly done to make a laser mistrack???
Also, did the other CDs receive the same treatment and will they become unreadable??
:?

The strange thing was that I never saw the error correction array light up.

I didn't keep the log. I may try re-ripping it just to create a new one.

My GW plays fine on my home stereo and in the car.

I haven't tried it in the computer yet though...

Is this happening on US GW only? In that case the easy solution for customers would be to get the EU manufactured version instead. Does anyone have the EU Grand Wazoo?

I saw the same message when I went to buy "Just Another Band From L.A.", and now it's no longer available from Amazon.

I had to get mine from Best Buy.

Before I boxed my GW up to ship back I examined it under magnifying glass. I saw nothing at the center, where the first track is, but two thirds of the way out I saw waht appeared to be bumps in the metal layer under the plastic. From this I am guessing the problem is in the pressing. Maybe the metal layer, that the bits are encoded in, is too thin or contaminated.
In any case this is not good. I'm wondering now whether I should return all of my purchases???

I played my copy last night. I purchased it off the shelf at HMV. I believe it's the US version, I doubt Canada got a different pressing. Anyways, played fine with no problems, I also ripped it on my computer with no problems either. I then played it back in my PS3, purposely seeking and skipping from track to track. Still no problems.

I'll try it again in a few days and on another player.
