Howdy folks, what's your favorite FZ segue between songs? Here's a few from me:

1. Mr. Green Genes / Florentine Pogen / Andy / Inca Roads - TBBYNHIYL
2. Wild Love / Yo' Mama - SY
3. Holiday From Berlin / Aybe Sea - BWS
4. Echidna's Arf / Don't You Ever Wash That Thing? and Son Of Orange County / More Trouble Every Day - R&E

What about intra-song transition?

Has to be Brown Shoes Don’t Make It - pastiche par excellence

for calvin -> grand wazoo

the final guitar riffage following the outro toots matches the gw guitar tone intro pretty nicely

A 3 way tie for me...

(1) I agree with other posters above about the segue from Son of Orange County to More Trouble Every Day on Roxy&Elsewhere and Unmitated Audacity

(2) I also love the segue from feeback at the end of Flakes to Broken Hearts Are For Assholes on Sheik Yerbouti

(3) Also the segue from I'm The Slime to Pound For a Brown* on the expanded Live in New York

* I think that Pound For A Brown was the perfect song to segue into from various other songs (e.g. also from City Of Tiny Lights)

Didja Get Any Onya into Directly from My Heart to You. Three (or six) minutes of conducted, improvisational madness into rock solid R&B. Perfect!

Which version? I listened to the original so many times before the extended one came along. I liked the extended one, it's like, after he died, the more Zappa the better. But, deep down, I never got over the deeply embedded segue on the original. Every time it got to that point, every time I've ever listened to the extended Ryko version, something deep inside was still waiting for that violin intro. The extended one never took over in that regard. The original segue is still the best for me.

Yeah, I always loved how he slowed down Camarillo to match the tempo of Muffin Man.

On live tapes I always love a good Tiny Lites into Pound For A Brown. I guess this is on Stage #5 as well.

I'd have to go with Envelopes / Drowning Witch / What's New In Baltimore? / Moggio, which occurred almost every other show on the '81 tour...
