Hi,

Could someone please tell me how I can tell if my nw "Hot Rats" is truly a 2012 release? There is nothing on the disc or in the liner notes to indicate that it is...

Several things. For one, if its a Ryko, it'll probably have a green-tinted case. Also, check the disc. If there's a photo of Frank that looks like this:



... then, you have the Ryko. Also, the new remaster indicates the source of the remaster. I think Hot Rats has "Source: 1969 Analog Master" in Green Letters in the credits at the bottom. There are several other discrepancies between the 2012 and 90's versions, but those are a few of the obvious ones.

The 2012 release clearly says:

©1969/mmxii on the back
©mmxii on the disk
©1968/2008/mmxii in the booklet

So, what is the problem? mmxii is Roman numerals and means 2012, in the case you didn't know that.
