More miserable Yorkshire Ripper fiction.

Also just read 'Memoirs of a Geezer' - Jah Wobble. Not really a fan, but a good read none the less. Surprisingly human.

Ian M Banks, The Hydrogen Sonata. Love his work And good ol Amazon dropped it in my box on my birthday. Also highly recommend Don Winslow and a title caled Homeboy by Seth Morgan.

I know exactly what you mean - my parents used to have a novel called "August is a wicked month". I never got round to reading it, but the title was brilliant, I thought.

BTW, Dennis Mack Smith : "Mussolini". Basically reveals the fact that Fascism isn't an ideology at all; it's self-deception. A great read!

Not really. Bloom's stream of conciousness seems to go nowhere, and Dedalus' absynth hallucinations (is that what it is?), while entertaining, offer no tangible insights.

Nah, I'm kidding.

It's all wordplay and no pathos. I like it.

I enjoyed it, but I'm easy to please....Not an easy read, Pete discusses the early abuse by his grandmothers "boyfriends" and how that shaped his later life....Not your usual sex drugs and rock'n'roll type book, though all of those things are mentioned.
