There are some songs that I just can't stand at times, but the next listen, they're wonderful. Songs like Stevie's spanking, Ya Hozna, Sy Borg, Valley Girl, Sex and quite a lot on Thing-Fish. They work sometimes, but not always. A song that almost never works though, is Tengo Na Minchia Tanta. Definetely the worst FZ song.

Really? I always thought the music accompanied the lyrics quite well :)

I will never understand why zappa was so fascinated by that nose-picking massimo bassoli guy...

It's especially bad, because it's a penalty track on Uncle Meat and totally out of context.

The Blue Light.

And really, anything on Man From Utopia.

I really like the Blue Light.

I think Luigi is pretty awful.

A lot of awesome tunes listed so far. Oh well.

One song that was popular that I never liked was "I'm the Slime".

For that matter, outside of 2 or 3 songs, I think Overnite Sensation is a bunch of overrated stuff. I listen to pretty much every other studio album more than that one..

I'd love to hear "Night School" performed by humans. I think it's a great composition, but that Synclavier tone hasn't aged particularly well.

You know, Ensemble Modern has a CD where they perform Night School...

The instrumentals on TMFU are among his best imo. Moggio and Tink Walks Amok are genius and We Are Not Alone is not far behind. I admit it is kind of an odd album (even for FZ) but I happen to like it a lot (except Luigi).

I like the Blue Light as well.

Tengo Na Minchia Tanta would be ok if it were on a Lost Episodes type of disc but, you're right, it's totally out of place on Uncle Meat.

When I first heard it on UM, I thought "it sounds very 80's, could he really be that much ahead of time, but why doesn't the other tracks sound the same?". Then I figured it was a bonus track.

There was no worst because Music Is The Best (Frank's anyway...) :D

That said, whatta thread! Just wow, amazing, trendy, and wordy (and a lot of "worst" tunes that are not all that bad in their own ways).

Pygmy Twylyte YCDTOSA Vol. 2 sucks compared to the Roxy version.

The 'original' Torture Never Stops is terrible as well.

I Don't Even Care...rotten.

The Roxy Version sounds like Old MacDonald had a farm compared too A Token Of His Extreme version.

I guess I misspoke (mistyped?). What I meant was, almost everything on Man from Utopia.

UTOPIA, while it has its flaws in the "album totality factor," department is a great listen.
SEX is kind of a throwaway, but it is humorous him defending having a chubby wife and all...
and DISCHARGE is simply gross and unfunny...tho' women seem to like it, so????

All others just fine and dandy, great even, and Luigi never bothered me.

Interesting thread, really brings home how varied people's taste can be. Really shocked to see someone nominate I Don't Even Care, I've always wished he did a few more in that vein.

Worst? For me...The Torture Never Stops (Beefheart version excepted). Disco Boy. Flakes. Tinseltown Rebellion. SEX. Rudy Wants To Buy Yez A Drink. Mudd Club.

"Liugi & The Wise Guys" for me. I tried. I just can't stand it.

I really like the music for "The Jazz Discharge Party Hats", but I could do without the lyrics. It would really be great if a version existed in a language that I don't understand.

I generally like The Man From Utopia, but it runs the gamut. Some tracks are total genius. Some tracks are totally mediocre. "Liugi" is garbage.

I really don't like We're Turning Again. Making fun of the departed Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon for no reason...

He's not making fun of Jimi, he's making fun of a certain brand of fans.
(Let's face it, fandom is pretty silly. (puts on a Tim Curry album)

I never really liked Sinister Footwear on YAWYI. The drumming ruins it for me. Vinnie's drumming was great, why change that?

The ´84 Dinah-Moe Humm is atrocious. The other versions were at least tolerable and the ´74 version was great.

Promiscous is a bad track on an otherwise flawless album (yes, even Jezebel Boy).

The Downtown Talent Scout is so bad, it's good (sounds like my father's band only with way better vocals).

´84 Willie the Pimp is horrible, the only good thing about it is the segue into Montana.

"Hot Poop" - he did it unwillingly.
