Nice one. Do you have the SACD-remaster/remix? It sounds great! :)

Not a fan of the remix ... I think they really screwed up the album with adding alternate vocal takes and changing things around. Very Zappa of them. And most of the band weren't involved...

I've never heard the vinyl version though. And I didn't like the earlier CD version. That's why I enjoy the new remixes. But I understand what you mean.

But alternate vocals? Have they added that?

Yeah, there are some cases throughout the Gabriel-era box, where they couldn't find the takes used on the album, or recreate the vocal effects. The result is a very different album, in my opinion. Also, the whole thing is mastered much louder and the dynamic range compressed. If you want to hear the vinyl mix, the CD from the mid 90s is the way to go.

Okay, didn't know that. It's the mid-90's discs that I referred to as the earlier CD version. I think it sounds very thin and not so good. But maybe they sound different depending on what system you use.

Lots and lots and lots of old time radio lately.

I like the way the whispery, shwishy sounds go around all the speakers.
(and with 100+ pages, there's lots to read).
