Are those Synclavier discs? If so, who knows what these are. Could be a best of collection, could be a massive "Lump Gravy" type pastiche re-working all those songs.

they gotz to ship this fucker already!

Comment:

A collection of (some of) Zappa's best and worst songs. They all have in common that FZ was in a satirical mood when he wrote them, and obviously when he put this thing together. Like YCDTOSA, this seems to be another of the middle-aged artist's attempts to convince his audience that his latest efforts - from the Eighties - are as good and relevant as the old stuff. And once again this proves to be an impossible task. So you get a collection of highlights mixed with duds, like Promiscuous.

It'll be interesting what versions of the Money tracks are, I imagine it'll be the Chad/Arthur overdubbed versions.

Also, regarding the "Thing Fish Intro" - could this just consist of the Dialogue section used on "Porn Wars" (as opposed to the full Prologue on the Thing Fish album), this would set up whatever "Pornwars Deluxe" is, nicely.

I guess we'll soon find out.

Nice. I'm familiar with the SOP - doesn't mean I can't vocalize my disdain for it.

If you look at all the titles you'll realize they're all
"protest" songs in some way.
Or "commentaries" be it political or religious.

In other words Frank being outspoken about a specific thing.

Freedom of speach.

In 1994, the bbc aired a two part take on FZ. One was called "Air Sculpture", the other was called "Anthropology, Pure & Simple".
Methinks this collection follows the theme of the latter as Frank often said that's what he was doing: seeing how people are, writing it down, giving his take. So "Understanding America" may fulfill some of that.

Something is going on - looking at my pre-order from Amazon - the price dropped a couple of bucks...it now says 2 discs - something might be happening...

My indy record store did not get the re-releases yesterday - scheduled for Friday.
Plan to pick up both Mothermania (which I ordered from BB) and UA (preordered from Amazon)

Can never have too much Zappa.

I pre-ordered from Amazon too (UA). I want to wait to see if Mothermania shows up on Amazon.

WTF? So it's not on the splash screen, not on the home page, not on the home page for Barfko-Swill, not on the front page of the "Original Masters" - but can be located on page 5 of said section. WTF? To me, that says: "Please do not buy this album!"

And in reference to this: "Please Note: This item will ship on or around October 26, 2012. To receive any non-preorder items sooner please place a separate order. (ZPCD161)" - if this was posted today for the first time then this note makes absolutely NO sense!

Or maybe those are instructions to follow if you would like to receive non-preorder items you buy today before today!
In that case, that's more like it! Wanting it now isn't good enough... I want it last week damnit!

Logically speaking, November 8, 2012 is on or around October 26, 2012.

True but ... if they were that logical, they should have said "This item will ship on xor around October 26, 2012." as a release date is unique
edit : sorry, you are right, I understood "will start shipping", but they can actually ship everyday.

I'm still confused about this release.

If it's a political kind of a compilation, why are:

We're Turning Again
Road Ladies
What Kind Of Girl Do You Think We Are?
Camarillo Brillo
Find Her Finer
Dinah-Moe Humm
Disco Boy

Included?... In what sense are those tunes political? (To me these are mostly "the boring ones", by the way). I really wonder who's gonna buy this album.

I've found that broadcast - it's not that one, but in a way similar, yes. Though that one is a radio show, and here (I suppose) there are whole songs following each other.

Anyhow, I still don't really understand the selection.
