Had a near heart attack when I saw FZ on the computer screen at a random moment.

Discovered it was the reflection of my T-shirt.

Went to a great concert in Berlin yesterday. Tuxedomoon, who played a delightful mixture of old and new and completely new. The violinist, Blaine Reininger is a pretty good front man. Two people shouted out requests between songs and he immediately replied "We've thought about your requests, but decided to play this instead."

Former friend of my sister's, allegedly highly intelligent and member of Mensa, got burgled. So she bought a new laptop, new cell phone, new camera... but forgot to buy new locks for her doors and was burgled again two weeks later.
I know you shouldn't laugh at other people's misfortune... but it's really hard this time. Especially since she's blaming the police for not telling her to get new locks.

Hope they played "Pinheads on the Move"!

Saw them in NYC years ago.

Almost - Blaine sang what I think he referred to as the five second version between songs.

Toothache and belly ache. Can somebody cheer me up?

I'm busy watching Nothing Personal. Great acting by Lotte Verbeek, but it's one of those films with not much dialogue.

Take two Asprin and bask in the sun, or watch some George Carlin on YouTube (the laughter may not be good for the sore tummy though)

PS I mean't no disrespect with my use of "sister" on the Dweezil conversation thread, I was indeed referring to (as kindly pointed out by Poly and Cal) Sister Obdula X. I try not offend the honourable people of this forum, especially a citizen of old Zealand

OK Gray Ghost, thanks for clearing that up! Tooth is feeling better today. At least now I can drink hot beverages.

I drove to Sacramento to attend a seminar on workers comp fraud and new accessibility legislation among other things. A couple of the lawyers giving a presentation were from the firm of Low, Ball, and Lynch. I thought they were kidding, injecting a little lawyer humor there, but that was their real name.

Went to the annual book fair. Spent over an hour with a twisted neck browsing the vast amount of books, and I find... America The Beautiful.

I was pretty close to the ceiling. And I've read a chapter or two already and wasn't thrilled enough to visit the library for an hour per day to finish reading it there.

They don't let you check it out and return it later? :?

Not if you don't have a 50 dollar membership, no.

Libraries are hopeless for people like me
a) as BBP says, in Europe you have to pay a registration fee.
b) I always bring the books back late and have to pay a fine,

I tend to buy books on Amazon second hand for 1 Cent plus packaging - it's cheaper and you can keep the book.

There are still some libraries in Germany that are free or very cheap, but I think most of them are in smaller cities and they don't have a lot of stuff. I really like the one in the town I live in. They only have about 200 CDs and Tapes, but I found "Strictly commercial" and "Jazz from hell" on CD, "The best band you never heard in your life" on Tape and a biography about Zappa.

Ours got rid of the CDs and their fantastic sheet music collection. :(

We are pretty lucky in NZ we still have teeny tiny suburban libraries which struggle along with local council funding, every year or so my local is threatened with closure, the community rallies around and there is a stay of execution. We have an excellent library in Wellington which has it all, cds, dvds, magazines, sheet music oh and books as well. Every year they hold a sale where you can pick up some incredible books very very cheaply.
It's free to join, theres a charge of $1.00 to take out cds and dvds everything else is free to borrow...My problem is finding the time to visit the place.

Had that awkward moment when I was playing a cheepo version of Sokoban and found I couldn't solve it. I was right: somebody goofed up in copying the original level. I'm a total geek.
