Of course it doesn't make any sense - but hey, how can it be you're surprised? You're not new here in ZFT-land... ;-)

Well, to be fair, I didn't say I was surprised.

Hah-hah: I've just found the mailing-list info about this release:

Quote:
Road Tapes - Among these are the more primitive audio documentary attempts to capture the essence of what was highly and improbably and even impossibly out there on the road in some of the worst audio terrain imaginable.

What?!? "Primitive?" the "worst audio terrain"?... Hm, seems to be 'promising' - of course, without any information on the setlist. As usual.

I began to worry about it - will it be the little brother of the Joe's Domage good-for-nothing rehearsal-tape...

Well it probably won't be a rehearsal tape. I also wouldn't be too worried about the "worst audio terrain" FZ used to bitch about how music was never meant to be played in hockey rinks.
Besides, for as many shows as I have, I can't imagine this would be any worse than some of those.

Yes, but it's strange that the only information we have about a new release, the first one of a new series that how WRONG it is... :-) funny - and very sad at the same time. Anyway, let's wait for a review and hope for the best! :-)

When the original text speaks about "more primitive audio documentary" and being "out there on the road" I tend to think of it az a Playground Psychotics-like compilation, with "funny" moments and dressing room talks... I hope I won't be right on this. I wish it would be a whole show.

Will pre-order this today. I wouldn't worry about it being "field-recordings" ala Playground Psychotics. Being that it's a city/date/venue in the title, it has to be mostly a complete show. Love the '68 Mothers. Hope there's plenty of improv jams that stand up to Ahead Of Their Time.

Very glad these are CDs and not downloads only. Maybe Road Tapes is a continuation of the "Joe's ____" series. Road Tapes just sounds better, and how many more words can you find that rhyme with Garage without the title sounding ridiculous?

I hope there's a new title every 3 months, and we get some seriously rare shit (Hot Rats band, MOI '70 reunion, '73 pre-Roxy band, '74 MOI 10 yr anniv shows, Bongo Fury tour, etc. etc.

Thanks Poly. It's been a while.
Probably won't ever change the avatar, Penguin made it for me years ago.
Love it.

I am not bitching. But I don't buy a title when I don't know what it is AT ALL. So I'll wait a bit....

Orang County Lumber Truck medley would be nice. I, too love Ahead of their time. Another weird thing on Barfko, it says that Mothermania is shipping October 26 - Amazon will ship mine on November 19. I know Amazon will be likely on the money.

This is due to stock. For some reason or other amazon.com was not supplied Mothermania before the original release date. I haven't yet preordered the next batch and have noticed that their first round of stock must already be accounted for as the date has now changed from Nov 19 to Dec 4 or Dec 18 on some of them which is a pain in the arse. Looks like they were way too conservative on their original sales estimates. Gail must be really happy how this is turning out.
