Nice! I have no problem with CH. This should be killer when I get it in two months due to shipping to Canada. :P

IMO - best release since Imaginary Diseases. I hope there are several in this series. I wish they'd give more info on "road tapes" my guess it is more geared towards early Zappa - maybe a Garrick show, the Zubin show - a Hot Rats show - maybe some Petite Wazoo (Waterbury - I remember him saying it was being recorded)

If this does sound as good as CH, I am going to be beyond pleased.
As far as I am concerned, you can never have too many version of OCLT medley.

I thought the Zubin show was the one that he mentioned in The Real FZ Book that he never got a tape of.

am i correct in thinking this will be the first official appearance of a live Hungry Freaks, daddy ?
always wondered why this song never reappeared, it was always a great choice for the first song
of the first album... looking forward to hearing this..

It's also on MOFO (disc #3), from 1966 - live! A great version - a great concert-part (4 songs?), a pity that it's sunken in the middle of a long "compilation-album".

There are many wonderful moments/pieces on this recording...the biggest surprise is Varese' "Octandre". I had no idea this was part of The Mothers repertoire...and what a MONSTER it is! Stunning!

This will always be "The Big Medley" as far as I'm concerned.

Octandre is out there on traded shows, they played it, or parts of it, pretty frequently.

Ordered this of course. Also blew the wad on Carnegie hall and Monkies to offset some shipping. Wiffy will be pleased.

They played it at Royal Festival Hall 1968, but FZ left it off Ahead Of Their Time.

just ordered. Went with cheapest shipping, sometimes I luck out and receive it within a day or two anyway. Anyone know if Music Today's warehouse is in TN? I got taxed for it, and as far as I know that's why I would get taxed (as I do on amazon, and newegg). I suspect this because it's generally quite fast.

This is just fucking great! Sure the sound is a little rough but it's not terrible. I was expecting maybe a fragment of the show not nearly the whole thing.

Jeezis, the snorks towards the end of OCLT are LOUD.

Good start to the series. Can't wait for more.

Hope it'll make its way over here (Old Europe) before Xmas. Funny question: Is it a fold-out or jewel case? And if it's the former: What's on the inside?

A typical 2-cd's-in-the-space-of-1-type case. Tray card underneath 2nd CD shows a copy of the reel package.

I just finished listening to all of Road Tapes. It's really good. I wouldn't hesitate recomending this to any Zappa fan. The only bummer is the missing section in Trouble Every Day that was mentioned earlier. It about 1:30 into the song. Oh well, it isn't perfect, but it is pretty near. God this is a tasty sucker!

Yay, thank you, Penguin. This means there's a tiny little chance to re-fold the booklet/insert and get rid of that horrible front cover "artwerg."

Grade A release. Love every second of it.
OCLT is really great, but the Holiday In Berlin Suite steals the show.
Many, Many, Many, Many more of these, please (and Thank You).
