Anyone know where to find a good one, since it seems to be on backorder everywhere? Looks like there was a massive recall. I guess you're taking a chance if you buy one second-hand thru Amazon now. I wish the ZFT would address this and have an announcement on when the fixed CD will be released.

Try to get one that was made in the EU. Order here: http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/art/Frank-Zappa-The-Grand-Wazoo/hnum/2906614?lang=en. They ship worldwide.

2012 UMe CD

"Mastered by Doug Sax with Robert Hadley & Sangwook "Sunny" Nam from the original analog master. Reverts to the vinyl mix. Note that some have reported trouble playing and ripping the disc (this has been encountered on US copies, but not UK copies, apparently). Be careful and keep your receipts. This is a pressing defect and will presumably be remedied on future copies."

I advised UMe that it would be in our best interest if they would release some sort of statement about the replacement cds. Seeing that I am but a consumer on the end of the chain they ignored my advice. With no certainty of getting a good quality CD I would order from a source that has the EU version and move on.
Oh well, I got mine...

I bought my first one from Amazon, and it had a major aural defect about a minute into the first tune. I returned it and got one from Best Buy, which is perfect. That was in September. If it's a pressing issue, how many distinct pressings were done?

Ordered a "new" one from an Amazon seller in the UK. Fingers crossed.

Keeping my Ryko copy for now, as the one on Amazon was way too expensive at $22. The Ryko mix sounds great to me, but when I can get the new one for $10-11 again on Amazon I'll snap it up.

Reminds me of the tracking defect on the first Oz Zoot CD,
where the start of Ms Pinky is halfway through the track
I haven't seen that particular one mentioned before, but I'm
sure Gail will post a new one out to me for free LOL

Has there ever been any acknowledgment directly by the ZFT re: the faulty GW CD's?

I still have mine in its glorious, unplayable condition.

You must have them confused with Burnung Shed. The new 5.1 mix of "Thick As A Brick" has three glitches on the DVD. When I played my copy, I didn't even notice them. I found out about it when I recieved an e-mail from Burning Shed that told me about the defects, and that they communicated directly with EMI to get replacement DVDs. They will send me one as soon as the corrected copies are sent to them...no need for me to return the old DVD.
I think you'd have a hard time finding anyone else who would even tell you there was a problem, or save you the trouble of returning the disc to the manufacturer yourself, let alone do it all for you without your asking!
