We have been on this rant for days now, and the unanimous cry of the Zappa failthful is "Gail, WTF??"

ZFT should put out the soundtracks, project/objects and license the film to Eagle Vision and be done with it. As much as I'd love to see this in the theater, let's face facts. In an age where a Katy Perry movie isn't doing blockbuster business there is no way in hell a Zappa film will be released in a wide enough fashion to recoup costs.

So license the thing out, have a screening at some theater in LA and make money on the DVD/Bluray.

It brings to mind back when "Concert for George" was released (the tribute concert to George Harrison at the Royal Albert Hall). It was being shown in "select theaters" for a day or 2 and being a Chicago resident, I knew it 'd be somewhere within driving distance for me. I gathered up a group of friends (6-8 peeps) and when we went to the show, there was literally one couple several rows up in front of us in the theater. It was a joke! (Not the performance/film - that was fantastic!) And that was for a freakin' BEATLE.

Penguin is right, there is no market for music film, people have home theater and would rather blast it in their jammies.

There seems to be no recognition in the world of the ZFT that times have changed.

Next month, Gail intends to have the Zappa Roxy Hologram by Proxy three-dimensional certified ownership announcement and if you Rahdley, or any other enterprixing Zappa fan wish to spend a mere $100,000....(you get the picture).

Sorry guys, you must have not read the fine print. That deal only pertains to Icelandic citizens.

And let's face it, who wouldn't rather "blast it in their jammies" than do anything else? You dirty swine.

I wonder when an update will happen, and if it will be of the "due to lack of interest there will be no more work on the Roxy Project." variety?

Actually I think it will be embarrassing for Gail and rightly so..............what was she thinking!
Of course she'll turn it round and make us out to be the bad guys.

Meanwhile in a parallel universe....... a smart Gail uses kickstarter and I've just got my credit card out and feel wonderful :smoke:

She should ban this (her own...) forum... ;-)

(Or, for the sake of change: come up with useful ideas, information, etc etc...)

I'm a little surprised this forum is still up and running actually.

When I'm in a supermarket I'm always leafing thru the rock magazins at the newspaper stand. Everybody's shit is mentioned and advertised there. But no sign of Frank Zappa. I mean, there is a major reissue campain going. It is as if Frank Zappa never existed. Is Frank Zappa unsellable these days? Doesn't anybody involved have any interest in selling all those CDs? Very sad.

Like it or lump it FZ was a commercial success and the diverse group of fans he courted are the ones who visit this forum. The fact that zappa.com is considered to be worth about $600,000 is because the vast majority of hits from this domain that would have gone into the analysis of its worth come from this forum. To get rid of this forum would be commercial suicide.

I've been pretty forgiving of the ZFT's quirks for a long time and have enjoyed almost all the releases they have done. It is the Zappa family, and I do respect that. But this little stunt convinces me that it's time for Gail to get out of the music business and put someone in charge who has a clue. This way, she'd have more time to spend hobnobbing with Al Gore or whatnot.
