I thought I'd start a new thread for this because the discussion of this particular album often gets buried. The problem with asking where all the others go when they disappear is that they soon return again. For example, CP3 is back on Barfko currently.

So the question is, when is the last time anyone saw QuAUDIOPHILIAc available on Barfko?

What has happened to this album? I could care less about Halloween, a similar DVD type release, but QuAUDIOPHILIAc is a much more significant release, in my opinion of course.

Perhaps because it's DVD-A which is kind of a dead medium.

It remains however, one of my favourites!!
I'm one of those "audiophile losers" who MUST HAVE GOOD AUDIO in their lives. (essential)
It sounds great on my home system and I love the way Dweezel programmed this.
It flows well and there are some rare things on it.
This will probably become a real collectors item years from now.

I might have thought this too but Halloween is still available.

When looking at the listings on other sites it says that Quad was released by DTS entertainment and Barking Pumpkin. Is it a licensing thing then that this isn't getting a re-release? I remember ages ago seeing it in stores, as opposed to Halloween.

More for corroboratory purposes, but G&S don't stock this (anymore) either, and it's listing states "now deleted and out of stock". I guess this is a 2nd hand job for the foreseeable future then (I myself am almost reaching the point where I might start looking for a copy).

Part of me is wondering if the material will be presented elsewhere. I think Zappa had mixed a few albums in Qaudrophonic sound, Over-Night Sensation I think is one. Maybe it will end up packed into a project/object in the future?

I would still love this disc of course, it's missing from my "complete" collection of works.

There were quads released of Overnite and Apostrophe, and there may have been one or two others mixed to quad but never released.

I emailed GZ about Quadio and didn't get a reply, so I broke down and bought it off Amazon for way too much. This was the last piece I needed to finish the official discography.

Just opportunistically nabbed an apparently mint copy of this on Ebay (for the seemingly decent price of £24.25, including postage). Pretty happy and also looking forward to hearing this one now (hadn't been particularly pertinently on my radar, but now I've ordered it...). :smoke:

Nope. Brand new! But they probably sold out by now?

Assuming that was recently, fair-do's/nice score (I have checked and Wayside- whom I have used before for a few Buckethead items- don't currently stock). Still, as far as I'm concerned, being in the UK, and particularly with the recent USPS postage rates hike- and, of course, appreciating the relative price this item appears to command, currently- I'm pretty pleased with my deal, and am looking forward to acquainting myself with this one. 8)

They're planning to re-release it with a more pronounceable name and on CD. The new title will be Quad Goes The Dweezil.

Now to wait six weeks before shouting April Fools!

I'll have to bookmark it so I won't wonder what's happening then.

I've seen people asking silly money for other 'out of print' DVD-A's (like $120!)
I'd just snaffle any you want if you see 'em, 'cos more obscure titles may never be reissued
I suppose Gail might reissue the Zappa DVD-A's if there's enough demand
