WOW and THANX! I've heard talk of the Cucamonga album but thought it was just an old and bad quality Boot.Jesus tits, was I wrong! How do I get my hands on a fair priced copy of it and all the etcetera's? I swear jpd your gonna make a real Zappa fan outta me yet,eh? I thought all was lost from Studio Z except the sex tapes he got busted for.Was this actually recorded at Studio Z? If not, where then,if you know? It's so cool to learn or find something new about FZ,it's right up there with flagrant sex!

The official blurb is ..."Rhino is proud to announce its acquisition of the Del-Fi catalog. Prior to his celebrated decades as the ringleader of the Mothers of Invention, legendary composer, performer, and experimental rock pioneer Frank Zappa began his career making musical mayhem in his own Cucamonga, California, recording studio. In 1963 Zappa showed up on the doorstep of L.A.-based Del-Fi Records with a heap of doo-wop, novelty, East L.A. R&B and surf sides, all produced, written, and performed by him and his proteges. Named for Zappa's studio, this disc celebrates the artist's "Wild Years," 1963-1964, with a collection of rarities that hint at his inimitable genuis-in-the-making."

Short version = It's not a bootleg. It's good quality. And...there are two versions from which to choose, so be careful.
The Del-Fi release has 14 songs. The Rhino re-release has 17 songs.
It shouldn't be too hard to find if you do a web search. I notice that Amazon.com has outside sellers offering it. Around $10 used, or starting at $21 for new/sealed.

Ahhh,a new FZ project for the weekend.Thanx much for the tip too bro'! The Rhino release sounds like Frank walked in the desert for 40 daze and 40 nights and low he came out with a disc from Cucamonga.....or so they thought,he later made two disc and called them Freak Out! and all was good.Ha! LOL!
I've never been in any record company that had a doorstep, maybe Del-Fi was an exception, but every company sez that about every artist, like they took them in outta' love.
This Zappa guy,he's pretty cool and full of intrigue,eh? :D
