I didn't like that album, but after hearing 2012 remaster, I changed my mind.

This brings my (meager) collection to thirty-six albums... I've got a hell of a way to go

Best Band, 2012 edition. Now with spit-ugly artwork and the Bolero!

Hello all. Gosh, it's been a while since I've posted here. I used to be mil but I can't sign in any more for some reason. Oh well, never mind; mil II it is. From a quick glance round the "General Board" forum it looks like nothing much has changed in the last few years, either

Anyhow, after neglecting FZ for a while, I've recently been reacquainting myself with the master's music. I've found out about the spiffy new remasters, and bought these three so far:

Waka/Jawaka
Sheik Yerbouti
You Are What You Is

My god, they're awesome. SY and YAWYIS sound even better than my ageing vinyl copies. I don't have W/J on vinyl, so the remaster frankly sounds miraculous. I've read all the Zappa Patio info on the new remasters, but for a second opinion, what do y'all reckon are the next three (or so) most crucial remasters I should get? It'll take me a while to buy them all due to a current lack of cash, so I'm looking for the most radical improvements first...

I've also bought Finer Moments, but I've not had the time to listen to it yet.

Hot Rats is essential, as it reverts to the original mix. Also, Chunga's Revenge has been repaired and sounds vastly different. As for the third option? Maybe Zoot Allures? Bongo Fury? FZ's guitar, in particulr, sounds incredible on those two. Happy (re)listening!

Thanks! I have both Hot Rats and Zoot Allures on vinyl and would like upgrades, so these sound like good ideas. I've never really given Chunga's Revenge much time (haven't heard the original vinyl); I like it enough, but it isn't one I turn to when I fancy some FZ, so perhaps this remaster will rekindle my interest in this album.

(Who knows when this will be posted, but never mind...)

Oh, for fuck's sake, I give up. Really, is this the best way to encourage new FZ fans onto the forum? I'm not even new and I'm royally pissed off. The activation post is bad enough, but this 10 message moderator-must-approve-every-post-you-make nonsense is just ridiculous. I last tried to post on Tue 26th and it's still not up. You know what the funniest thing is? An unregistered user has more privileges than a signed-in-but-yet-to-be-APPROVED member. I can't even search when I'm logged in. Well, if this ever appears, goodbye y'all again. Not that I ever got to say hello in the first place. Whatever happened to all the fun in the world?

Who gives a fuck anyway?

Doug, is the inside booklet of the new Trout Mask any different from the old CD booklet?

Never saw the old CD booklet, however the design and layout are copyrighted 2013, so there must be some differences.

Just ordered Broadway the Hard Way and You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore, Vol. 3 today. I can't wait to get them to finish up my 80's collection.
