Zappa was not technically inept, but the overwhelming greatness of his playing comes from the ability to follow his artistic intuition in the moment and create unprecedented beauty beyond his proven technical skill. A great difference from Dweezil's music, which is respectable but from a more human sphere of rehearsing and perfecting.

I would put it this way: Frank was an artist, Dweezil is a craftsman.

A craftsman without a good original ....pretty much anything. Such a shame that as talented as he is , there is not an original bone in his body....Not a good one anyway.

So you could do better? I didn't think so. Folks, the Dweezil bashing is getting old, REALLY old. If you don't like him, don't go to his concerts, period, end of discussion! This will leave better seats for the rest of us!!

I've found some of Dweezils solos pretty damn good at the shows I've been to.

Dweezil is a great guitar player, but to my ears, everything he plays has been done before by someone else (no offense DZ if you actually do read this crap). This idea kind of fit's under the "Rock as a music form is done" thread in regards to lack of originality today. DZ is awesome at emulating a variety of styles, but to compare him to his father is not fair to either of them. FZ was an original who created his own unique style.

My take - anyone playing a straight up guitar with a rack - without a rack - whatever - is going to be somewhat a clone of someone else... if you want something different - FRED FRITH.

Done.
