Anybody got the UK video release?

I've been trying to collect as many versions of the Motels film that I can find for reasonable prices, but the only copies of the PAL 25fps overly-pink VHS version of 200 Motels are quite over-priced for a US-resident like I.

Before you mention it, there are a few torrents out there with VHS-rips, but the people who made them only include an overly-compressed AVI version not suitable to be used for anything.

Now I may get banned for asking this but, have anyone of you got a rip of this PAL version that you might like share/trade/whatnot? I'm weary about trading, but if it's the only way I guess I'll have to go that route.

Welp, I've never tried the TV > HD Cam method so I wouldn't know. Though this article supposedly explains the procedure: http://www.steves-digicams.com/knowledg ... order.html

The sound can be out-of-sync, that doesn't really matter to me. I plan to clean up the transfer a little anyway.
Just as long as you can get it at a constant 25fps frame rate and hopefully at the 720x576 picture size, I can use it. Thanks in advance, ;)

Job done copy is 4:3 for sure WMP will only playback in 4:3.The sound has lost a bit of power though ok just need the volume up more but that is picking up more hiss than original.

That's great! Don't worry about the audio man, I can try to clean it up if necessary. Juts as long as the visuals are as high-quality as can be, I can use it.

Now the only question is getting the film over to me. I guess you could put it on a file-sharer or something, I should be able to collect it that way.

You could try uploading it to DepositFIles, they allow for bigger file sizes.

How does it look when they've played it on the MGM-HD channel?

I don't actually. I haven't had a TV connection for about four years now, and back 2009 I had no idea what 200 Motels was. If only I did, then I might've been able to go to that one-off theatrical showing of it in Oregon in the same year. Then I would know for sure what the film is supposed to sound and look like.

But, to get back to your question, no I wasn't able to see the MGM-HD showing, and I'm surprised no one seems to have recorded it and shared it online. Quite a shame and a lost opportunity really.

I have the channel and the connection to record it off my DVR. If it shows again I'll make sure I get a copy.

RIght on man, let's hope it does show again. A nice 1080p HDTV rip will rival the (now nonexistent) Netflix stream anyday, (as they are both said to be taken from the same fresh/recent 16:9 cropped transfer)

On a random note, I find it remarkably silly that when doing a search for this MGM HD broadcast, throngs of people who didn't see it on other forums complain that there's no point in an HD version as the film was shot on videotape, and therefore has always been and should only be seen at a standard videotape ratio (1.33:1/576p). Those people obviously didn't hear the "transferred to 35mm film using the three primary colours and then matted to 1.66:1" part when reading up on how the film got to the theaters, XD

I've got a PAL one stashed, just can't remember if it's VHS or Beta (the Beta would be better quality anyway)
I figure the Australian PAL should be the same as the UK PAL . My copy has maybe been played 5 times
Anyway, I'll post again when I find it

Awesome, even if it is only slightly better quality, every transfer helps, :) Let me know if you're able to rip it, I'm very interested.

200 Motels has been on Comcast TV on the On Demand feature,in the free movies section.Don't know which copy their showing but it's very clear in sound and visual quality......(goes to see if it's still on) Nope,it's off of there now,but they have been showing it off and on for the last five years I've had Comcast. So I doubt the ZFT retains the rights to a Universal Film. They do have the rights to the music.

Now if you needed a VHS copy of Baby Snakes.......
