Anybody know if it has unreleased stuff? I have a serviceable CD version, so I have to see if I should buy it...

Yeah, I didn't see anything in the email that would make me need to buy this album for the third time.
(I already have it on lp and cd).

My guess is that they've transferred it from the original analogue master tapes in the same way they've just done with the early FZ material. So it'll probably sound better....

If you love the original and the remaster gets good reviews, then purchasing this would be a no-brainer.

I get that. I just thought someone would know if there was 'bonus material'

I'd guess it'll be a typical wait until release scenario (unless Joe or someone comes forward with some info; or Gail in GZ sez or something).

For bonus material it would obviously have to turn into a 2 disc (plus) set, however (I hope that's the case- quality of any such material providing-, but maybe this makes it less likely?).

No hints of bonus material in the announcement...price is typical for a single CD from Barfko and this would leave almost no room for bonus material...I doubt there is bonus material.

Agreed. The lack of any real info and/or that the first Road Tape volume was priced at only $15, for example, doesn't exclude the possibility, however, so I'm cautiously optimistic on that front (that live show Fred Zappelin speaks of in the Randomonium section would be awesome). :smoke:

Back in the late '70s, I bought my first and only LP copy of TMR, after reading about how Frank had remixed the album, for one reason, to remove the overhead airplane noises. I assume that this is the master that was used on the WB CD, which also sounds the same to me. Also noticed that this WB CD is now Out Of Print.

I wonder which master ZFT will use (and how did they get it out of WB's control)?

I recall John French mentioning that he was peeved a bit that he wasn't consulted for the remaster...that it was already complete. That was at least a year ago!

the 13 extra tracks on cd3 of grow fins total 24:15 from the trout house sessions, including lots of noodling, an 8-minute bush recording and some take1-take2 stuff

It was a good day when I scored a brand new copy of the Grow Fins box on Ebay for $60. It made up by getting reamed for $100 for a promo copy of "I'm Going To Do What I'm Going To Do" and $60 for what I found out was a bootleg version of "Lick My Decals Off Baby" vinyl replica CD.

I'll probably end up getting TMR again, but it's not high on my priority list.

It was a better day when a big Beefheart fan just let me burn all the discs of "Grow Fins."

I've got my eyes open for a good deal on a copy of that set (though, I've still got a decent portion of the Captain's standard discography to acquire and explore yet, so it's by no means urgent for me; I'm presuming $60 is a pretty good price?- seems to be going for at least $80 from my semi-attentive observations recently). 8)

I'm glad this was posted on April 1st. If this was true, I would think Frank was probably be silliest person to have ever appeared on god's grey earth.

I'll only buy it if they give John French a drumming credit. It's absolutely shameful he wasn't credited on the original album.

+1 + Jan Van Vliet gets her due share.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought that the issuance of Bat Chain Puller signaled that the ZFT was trying to help Ms. Van Vliet. Gail believes in being paid for intellectual property, I truly believe that Jan gets paid.
