Don't ever buy DR bass strings 45-105. They will fucking break before you get them tuned up. I'm gonna go to the music store and try to get my $$$ back.

Ta. Oddly even after two years of intensive playing (until I broke my finger), my bass strings were in fine shape.

(Also, the bass could be your problem, if it's a cheepo. Had a guitar like that, frets were sharp like razors.)

I've used GHS strings religiously since I got to college. Since I just moved to VA I figured I'd hit the local music store in town and all he had were DR and Ernie Ball (I HATE Ernie Ball, the only strings I've broken while playing). I figured I'd give DR a try. Fuck em. I know it's not my bass, it's an ESP J-5 Custom, back before ESP became a metal brand and put out good products. I went to the GHS site and ordered some new strings, decided I'd try out the GHS "Progressive" line.

I don't know if they even make them any more, but I always liked nickol plated flat wound strings,,
then came the round wounds,, after that, I don't know what's out there now,, but in forty years of playing
bass,, I never broke a string,,,,
