Ah, at last Doug. Something without SS (and I must admit a weakness for Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren). I was beginning to get worried that you might spend the rest of your life thus...

I had no idea Steven has made so many movies that weren't "Under Siege."

To be fair, a lot of these were direct-to-flea-market.

And quite a few are 2-episode compilations of seasons 1+2 of his TV crime drama "True Justice". (which I haven't seen, but am now catching up on.)

Senseless trivia #1: Robert Fripp has said Seagal's movies are a "guilty pleasure" of his.
Senseless trivia #2: In the supplement section of the DVD release of "On Deadly Ground", Seagal says King Crimson is one of his top 3 musical influences. (he hides it well, though!)

Are you serious?

Yes.

Suddenly no one wants to ask a question, so it looks like it's my turn.
"Nate Diamond, Hollywood Five-O. Your new stuff is really cinematic-sounding. Have you guys ever considered doing scores for films?"
Expectant pause.
Was a scorching riposte about to cut my head off?
"Steven Seagal," begins Fripp, "hasn't called and asked me." (laughter)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fripp's Diary - August 7, 1999

"Under Seige" with Terton Rinpoche was BBC1's Friday night action movie, coincidentally coinciding with 3 other Seagal features on Sky Moviemax (but past my bedtime). The climax fight between Terton & Tommy Lee Jones was edited: where Terton sticks his knife in Tommy's head & then pushes his head into a computer screen, Tommy was just smashed into the computer screen sans cranial knife. And, just before the big fight, Tommy & Terton recognise each other but we're left to guess how & from where. Was Tommy the character whose bad intelligence resulted in Terton's Seal team getting killed during the invasion of Panama?

My Sister & I long ago accepted that one of the mixed joys of B movies is figuring out all the discontinuities & irregularities of plot and character, even to the extent that Sister interrogates me as to how a particularly unconvincing line of development might actually be credible. I remind her, at our age, it's absurd that we should try to make sense of filmic nonsense.
-------------------------------------------------------
Fripp's Diary - Dec. 5, 2000

Sky satellite tv in now installed and vibrating. It's possible to see 12-17 movies at any one time. Who cares they are nearly all really bad? There's so many of them! Since I've been home, two of them have been Terton Rinpoche vehicles. "Hard To Kill" is utterly implausible, features a very bad script even by the standards of the genre, and is the first Seagal movie my Sister took me to. Sister also introduced me to Chuck Norris. Patricia takes care of her Brother's cinematic treats in place of our Father. Dad probably corrupted us irremediably every Saturday afternoon by carrying us to one of the film palaces of the area during the early 1950s.
