I am, like others here I'm sure, collecting FZ's discography in a chronological fashion and I have run into a problem. My copies of Zappa Records versions of 'Make A Jazz Noise Here' and YCDTOSA, Vol. 4 are labelled as #57 and #56, respectively. That doesn't seem to make chronological sense. Do you think they got it wrong on the CDs? Or did 'YCDTOSA, Vol. 4' actually come out first? Can anyone help me with this dilemma? Everywhere I see it says 'Make A Jazz Noise Here' came first.

In the words of Theodore Bikel, "what's the deal?"

You're right, Jazz Noise was in the stores first, but they came out almost simultaneously.

According to the discography on Zappa.com...YCDTOSA Vol. 4 comes first. (it may have been ready first, but delayed a wee bit.)

V'Ger is that which seeks the Creator. I am ready to commence my observations.

I put ..Jazz Noise.. first in my collection because I guess I decided that I am going chronologically first. But that doesn't mean I'm going to put Tis' The Season To Be Jelly way up at the front either. Ah! I don't know..

My CD's are arranged alphabetically and by release date (ABBA to ZZ-Top)

My YCDTOSA discs are in the wooden "case" that I got when I purchased the last two.

Anything live (that's not an official release) and is in a CD case is also in chronological order...Anything NOT in a CD case is either in a binder, or on a spindle, by band, and chronologically "as best as I can get it" (..although I'm not good at keeping those in good order anymore...hence the spindles)
