If Ray Charles came back to life as a Caucasian,
regained his eyesight and no sooner
was bitten in the neck by the werewolf
he just might sound like Ben Thomas.

I mean Ben could have sung it like an alumni
but the Evil Boogie Man Soul of Ben Thomas is a most welcomed surprise.

For shame. Linking to an illegally shot youtube video. Respect the artist!

Actually, Dweezil was performing badly at that concert. The chicken he had for dinner didn't agree with him and his guitar was misbehaving, he was tuning it continuously. See my review at the Goose.

Ben might be alright, but for some reason I can't get rid of this Justin Timberlake feel and look to everything he does. His voice is to perfect and not down and dirty like all of FZ's lead singers could sound. Ray, Ike, NMB and even Bobby Martin & Flo and Eddie had "it". Ben just never "owns" a song like those cats can. It sounds like well mannered white punks on toast to me.

I remember that review. A good one too!
As I remember the next time he played near you, you had to leave early because of train schedules back to Eindhoven.

Ben was totally awesome here in Eindhoven... taking the part Dweezil should play. Yeah, leaving early in Hengelo, man that sucked! It's not just far away; it's the middle of nowhere and the connections are awful. Was it Ahead Of Their Time, where FZ says the concert won't last too long because of the public transport connections?

Yes Frank diod so much more over a long period of compositional air sculptures
but give DZ a decade or two I can see his solos will be not only as legendar as FZs
but technocaly surpass FZs god and bad nightsout. No that any FZ solo was really ever bad
but DZ is more consistent in what he achieves.

I'm gonna answer Mr Baloney as if he was actually reading my post:

Nobody gives a fuck about guitar gods anymore. The shit is rubbed into the ground. The days of legendary solos are over. Played out. Is he gonna top Coltrane? No dweezil solo will ever be legendary. It's the age of computers and samples now. The age of Guitar Hero. You can't surpass something musical that happened 40 years ago. It's too late to surpass it. That music is like a bridge and dweezil is walking over it and he couldn't get where he is going without it. He can expand on it but he can't better it. It's the whole reason he is where he is.

I disagree.

The moment we decide that any form of musical expression is redundant, or 'not as good as it was in the good ol' days' then we are fucked.

I agree. But that's not what I meant. My fault. I didn't word it right.
I love lead guitar when it's unique and original. More than any instrument in the world. I'm not calling it redundant. It can be better than before but it can't really be better because it's not 1940 and I'm not Charlie Christian. Know what I mean? It's not 1967 and Dweezil aint Frank. It's like comparing a modern baseball player to Jackie Robinson. Bigger, stronger, faster, with better stats but still not better than Jackie Robinson.

I've tried to stay away but I can't. Titoney's Boloney is more entertaining than Kim Kardashian's Ass I must say. Reality blogging at it's best. :)

Addicting in it's strange and fascinating own way, isn't it?!? We already know Titoney's got better legs than Kim K. does though, via The Letterman Show. They're IQ's can't be much different either.

I've got you now.

You can't beat Frank, at Frank's own game, basically.

I guess he'll take what he can get. If FZ had been laughing with him, it would be different. But he's happy with being laughed at, not with. I doubt he knows the difference between the two anyway he's been laughed at so much, it must blur those lines.

I got bullied badly, and that definitely gave me a self-depricating sense of humour. Thing is, when I'm online anywhere, I try to be cool. He doesn't even bother.

He thinks he's been baptized by the Dweezil himself, as the ambassador to DZW. He thinks he's impotent, which he is!
