This is true: once upon a time,In wonderful Flint,Michigan...Mr. Frank Zappa bought me a beer.In the small lounge of the Holiday Inn.After the concert at I.M.A. Auditorium. I couldn't hitchhike out of the area back to Ann Arbor. So was hanging around... It was 1974,May 10th.I walked up to the munchkin- sized table where he was sitting & said: "Frank Zappa- buy me a beer." And he did.And then didn't bother him anymore.

I'm surprised he didn't write a song about it.

This is great to hear. My hero in my hometown, too cool! I recall years ago waking up early and trudging on down to watch the I.M.A. be imploded to make room for the local college. By the way, was this Holiday Inn the same one Keith Moon parked a Cadillac in the swimming pool?

Had I been in the situation, I'd-a talked FZ's ear off asking him questions about the next album or how the tour was going. A little small talk at least. Looks like a lost opportunity other than to say "You'll never guess who bought me a beer last night. Go on guess."

I have ran into many celebs and it best to be polite say hi and move on, I have read that they a life also and if they wasted a lot of time with every fan , they wouldn't have any, and sometimes people just don't want tobe bothered... :smoke:

Point taken. A fan shouldn't be a pain.

Not if it was Pabst Blue Ribbon, maybe if it was a Dos Equis XX or better.

Tres Equis! Good stuff! In Mexico, the only Dos Equis XX is imported. They have Tres Equis XXX beer everywhere, just like Pacifico and Modelo, it's their Coors and Bud south of the US border. But I digress. TMIMITW already knows this!

FYI, If your in Canada and order a shot of Canadian Club...your not gonna get it. Right,... eh Canucks?

That Molson's XXX looks good jpd, been awhile since I've had one. Don't most all Canadian beers have a higher alcohol content than our 3.2 beers do? Not counting the micro brews of course. :?:

The "average" beer is 5%. There are "light" beers, with various and sundry lower alcohol contents...but, as I'm sure you can guess, I don't have much experience with those! (I'm not one of those people who think beer tastes good. I drink for 1 reason, and don't see any reason to waste time getting there!) Image
