Great!!

About this event
Trend-mongers, philosophers and hunchmen. A car-chase, a love-in and a replica mahogany desk. A coughing mountain, a choir of stenographers and an exceptional swine-pig called Greggery. Nicholas Collon and the Aurora Orchestra give the first Proms performance of Frank Zappa’s high-energy counter-culture satire The Adventures of Greggery Peccary.

Really looking forward to this concert, don't forget they're playing an orchestrated Nancarrow study as well! However, past Proms experiences tell me that this could be awful, every time they do something that has the vaguest hint of "novelty" it is usually poorly handled and does not do very well.

I'll be recording the FZ bits, but not the rest.

I've recorded them, for those of you unlucky enough to have missed out on Greggery and/or G-Spot Tornado, drop a note in my PM or on the Goose. And I'm backing them up, just in case.

The start of GP was a bit messy, the tenor who did Greggery missed a few cues there and in the calendar invention bit, but the orchestra sounded lovely. G-Spot rolls on beautifully too but it sounds a bit bassy on my recording: whether that's my recording or a technician at fault I don't recall.

I just finished listening. I think these versions are as good as the Ensemble Modern's. The Aurora Orchestra and company did a great job!

Thanks for the links.
