While in Toronto, I bought the album when it first came out. My friend and I were staying at his uncle's. Since uncle wasn't home, we set up his home projector, and put on a stag movie. No sound, so my first listen to the album was while watching the movie. At the end of the quiet bit, in the middle of "Fracture", the music suddenly bursts into a loud frenzy...so did the couple in the film. The timing was perfect, and gave me a whole new perspective on KC's music.

Nice story, doug. Maybe they recorded the track watching the movie, much as Pink Floyd did with the Oz movie in DSOTM.

For the really luck people out there to attend to their life gigs, I would love to hear about their impressions. What remained after all these years. Gee, I'd love to have seen Bruford live, and much more in the Crim.

I saw KC several times, 3 times in 73/74, with Bruford, he had an array of percussion devices set up with his kit, they looked to be hand made, they had him on risers about 4 feet above the stage, and unlit, a few minutes into the opening tune the lights focused on him, playing fibes drums as I recall ;you know the clear jobs. In mho he stole the show and was great.

I saw several shows each on the Discipline, Beat, and Three of A Perfect Pair tours, including this one:

http://www.dgmlive.com/archive.htm?artist=6&show=461

As indicated in the "liner notes", the 11/5/81 show was truly memorable...such a small venue to see these guys blowing the roof off the place.
We were very close to the stage, right smack in front of Bruford. I'd seen Adrian with Bowie, Bruford with his own band, and TL with Peter Gabriel, but it was my first time ever seeing Fripp. I def remember seeing him "rise off the stool" during Indiscipline that night and on the other shows I saw from that tour.

Every show I saw from all three tours was outstanding.

I saw the TOAPP tour at the pier in NYC and saw Frank there within about a month of that. Not sure of the dates right now, but what a summer!

i'd recommend subscribing to the DGM podcast, KC outtakes/live/rehearsals every week or so.

Saw them with Bruford who played a very good solo mostly on wood blocks and amplified percussion. I think it was Focus, King Crimson and Joe Cocker. Spectrum in Philly, maybe '74. 20th Century Schizoid Man was really loud. That's all I remember.

More random Crim for Zappa trained ears...
