One of my Pops favorite coaches, next to Madden of course, back when Houston had Oilers. He wouldn't have liked me cause I thought he was a Bum.

Marcia Wallace dead at 70
Marcia Wallace, the star of "The Bob Newhart Show" and "The Simpsons," has died,...

She would also build a second career as a voice-over actress, giving life to Edna Krabappel, Bart Simpson's cynical fourth grade teacher on "The Simpsons." The role, a sublime parody of disaffected instruction, earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance in 1992.

I always thought she had great comic timing. She learned it from one of the best, Bob Newhart. Tis a bummer.

Just read on the Simpson's page on Facebook that they are going to retire her character. A huge bummer to see her gone.

One of my favorite teachers has died at the age of 85. He always reminded me a bit of Fred MacMurray of My Three Sons. He was one of those teachers who always challenged his students in a friendly way by teaching them just slightly beyond their grasp. His classes were always stimulating and enjoyable too, I felt let down that the next couple of years of school were mostly dull and by the book in comparison.

Years later, I got to know him all over again when I became good friends with his son whom I attended high school with. I was always at the house sharing dinner with them and watching old movies (His favorite was Seven Brides For Seven Brothers). Though we didn't always see eye to eye on some things (politics, religeon, etc.) I loved the old man. He was a real character with a wicked sense of humor.

It's going to be slightly awkward seeing his family at the funeral since we've been out of contact for over a dozen years. But the funeral is for the family to help them grieve and I hope by attending along with everyone else to help provide a slight feeling of comfort. I hope his church is packed full of people

You were lucky to have such a teacher Milt. A good teacher is worth they're weight in gold if a pupil is willing to learn. Some of the really good one's the kids are drawn to naturally for their excitement of knowledge and the way they relate it on they're pupils. They should make as much as any CEO. imho

Just heard! He inducted FZ to the RnR Hall of Fame, isn't it? Also, spoke evil of him one upon a longtime ago. Anyway, they are both in peace now, in God given Heaven jamming cosmik creations, we hope. RIP

What a bummer! Damn, and only 71. I liked Lou's recordings. Now it's just a Perfect Day forever for him. Gonna miss ya Lou, you were so Vicious. One of the greatest NYC rock poets ever.

Lou's replacement liver was taken from a Zappa fan, and ultimately it appears to have rejected Lou Reed

Despite all the amputations, she could dance to a rock & roll station...ya, it's alright. ~ LR
I'll miss Lou's NYC ironic sense of humour too. :(

Too bad. I was a Reed fan for about 6 years and really enjoyed his New Yawk take on life. Eventually though I had to find new sonic territory. Needed something more inspiring.

Lou Reed I loved even before I'd heard a single song - he's got such attitude. Saw him live in 1984, 1998, 2006, 2010 (Metal Machine Music). What a character, what a songwriter! FZ's evil twin - or vice versa, or adversary, or something...

I see he's on the In Memoriam page here at zappa.com. Very nice of the family. Too bad there was bad blood for so long. The only thing I own of his was a "greatest hits" type of thing, and really enjoyed it. I didn't know until yesterday that he was married to Laurie Anderson...my sympathies to her and any other family. Big loss.
