Not necessarily FZ standard (like me  ), or playing FZ stuff.
I play guitar a bit, and I have a decent stab at a few other things.

Guitar.
Somewhat non-virtuoso.
Gig regularly though.
No Zappa tunes.
All covers.
Good fun.
Charity stuff, weddings etc
Got one groupie in 20 years (which I think is a pretty acceptable hit rate).

Dabble with drums, composition, recording etc

Music really is the best.

Keys instruments primarily but in general I play anything I can get my fingers on. At the moment I have some 50 instruments in my collection, ranging from recorders and piccolos to bongos and doumbeks and bass and guitar.

Piano even worse. I can read music though, which makes me better than Paul McCartney.

Yes I have an ocarina. My sister bought it for me in Romania. It's one of those with a specific gun-like shape, so she did get in security trouble with the airport.

Bass is my main axe, but I play guitar, keys, drums and sing. I'm in a jazz-rock band (we're currently learning Chunga's Revenge) and a Black Sabbath dealie. I play along to TBBYNHIYL and MAJNH frequently because it's hella fun and helps me keep up my chops.

'Black page' pretty damned good?
I thought it interesting that Bozzio took a couple of weeks to do black page, and Coliuta could do it straight off.
Mind you, I'd still be on the first few black dots thirty+ years on.

No surprise that Bozzio kicks more ass when free to improvise. ie: Muffin Man and Black Napkins.

I strangle my guitar... reentoonteentooneenooeenooeenooee moowahhh!!!! Just like that... I don't have a Stratocaster with a whammy bar, but I do love the ones I have... all left-handed... (that makes me think of the story Frank told in his autobiography about the guy who sold people 'left-handed pianos')

Guitar, bass and keys. Some days I'm good, other days I'm not. But it's a lotta fun. Do a little recording also.

Have the members here thought about uploading a repeating jam track and then improvising over it? (hey Philmore, I'm a Phil too)

I've played guitar for about 20 years (lead, rhythm, finger-picking, alternate-picking, sweep-picking, hybrid-picking, etc). And I also write/compose, sing and have constantly played air drums (since I currently can't afford a real kit), etc., for almost as long too...

There are a few out there - zoot allures for instance. You can jam to it but it sounds shit.

Not sure if it counts or not, but my 14 year old son has been taking guitar lessons since he was 8. His current weapon is the snow camo pattern Dean Dime.

Maybe a somewhat more 'generic' jam track then... I was part of one jam done at the RacerXBand forum, they always managed to scrounge something up...

Greetinz Philostopher and Disco Boy...

One of my favorite things to do is plug in to my Behringer amp of a thousand sound effects via loop pedal and a cry baby wah wah..... I waste a disturbing amount of time experimenting with the sounds I can squeeze out of the rig. My oldest guitar I've had for over 40 years a horrible piece of shit thing called a Diplomat it's a Japanese made strat copy (with a whammy bar) after a number of modifications it's a really controllable feedback monster, so I love the battered beast. But the goto is now my Roxy SG, named the devil because of the matte blood red colour and the almost subterranean sounds that it can produce, Ive also got a 61 cherry heritage reissue SG, which has a completely different feel to the Roxy, hard to believe they are both made by Gibson...I have a bunch of acoustic guitars one known as the dead guitar due to its complete lack of tone..and a beautiful handmade Ashton (acoustic/electric) but my favorite is a French made brandless thing with perfect neck for my hand and an excellent tone......oh and I have a nice pair of bongos to play in the dirt....then theres a couple of Roland keyboards, but I can't really play those, Doors/Floyd impressions mostly..Great fun to get all the stuff synced up through the loop box, get a groove going...and and and the next thing you know, you're out of weed, very very tired and its Monday morning...

That guitar cost me the grand total of NZ$30.00, and came with a no name valve amp which helped me develop a tolerance to electric shocks............
