According to Music Direct, these will be available on December 10th. No information on source, who mastered it, or where it is pressed.

The original Uncle Meat on Bizarre was mastered very wel. The '69 pressing will be hard to beat.

Jeez, you are dead right about that. I have never heard anything like it.
I bought a new pair of speakers on Saturday and this was one of the first lps that I put on to test them. I was relieved that they sounded great. I played Uncle Meat and flipped it over and listened through King Kong until the end of Motorhead's section.
Incidentally, they are Cambridge Audio S30's.

The new Roxy vinyl is not my first priority, since I got crazy a couple of years back and bought sealed copies of R&E and The Grand Wazoo, in addition to the VG copies I already owned. Price (audiophileusa) around $100 for each SS copy. The Grand Wazoo has an original faded sticker "Frank Zappa & The Mothers" glued to the plastic and Roxy looks like a first edition as well. Uncle Meat is kind of tempting, but I agree with tweezers and thenoisydrum that they will have a hard time matching the quality of the original, working from 45 year old tapes - unless they're going from the 80's transfer, like they did on the Freak Out! vinyl reissue.

If these are the original mixes and not the current remasters, I'm in for sure.

I just got UM and I hope it is the original mix. I don't own it on CD and need an excuse to use my record player. I can't wait to get it tomorrow. No idea if it is 10 or 12 inches and if its 33 or 45 rpm.

From what I have found so far it is the original mix. 45 RPM and is 180g. This will be my first vinyl so I'm very excited.

Very tempted to grab these on vinyl, but would rather wait and see if a MOUM comes out as a CD set. I have a fair condition original US pressing of UM. The Ryko CD with all it's "digi-reverb" issues isn't all that bad. Hopefully the upcoming Roxy DVD has some bonus content, like original Cheepnis mix audio and whatnot.

I got both of these as Christmas gift. Haven't had a chance to listen yet but according to Uncle Meat's liner notes:

"For best sonics (the original edit master for Uncle Meat unfortunately in sections suffers from oxide loss due to tape age and bad storage conditions), a new hi-res digital patchwork edit master was created in 2013 with all damaged sections restored from safeties in The Vault - Joe Travers"

I like that on all of these recent re-releases they've been very clear about source material.

Since my copies are looking quite disheveled, I need new ones. Both originals sounded fantastic. So I'm looking forward to new FZ vinyls.

I mean 33 RPM now that I got the vinyl. I figured it was 45 because APPARENTLY most 180g vinyl are 45's.

FWIW: The new Uncle Meat reissue got some attention from Stereophile.

There is no correlation with record weight and speed, just as size does not indicate speed (i.e. you can't assume 7" records are 45 RPM). Most of my 180g records are 33 1/3 RPM.

So, can anyone here verify the sound quality of the Uncle Meat vinyl rerelease??
The review makes it sound like the original release is superior....

I've never heard it so good. In fact it's one of the best sounding albums I have ever heard. Brilliant mix.

Just got around to getting this myself and it sounds AMAZING. Uncle Meat was my intro to FZ all those years ago and has remained a firm favorite ever since. And I am by no means a vinyl snob or an audiophile. But my first impression, off the cuff, with no scientific A/B-ing or double blind studies, is that the new vinyl cut is the best sounding version I've ever heard. Totally agree with that Stereophile review linked above about the transients--those marimbas sound incredibly vivid. Now I'm sorry I didn't buy the Hot Rats vinyl reissue when it was out.

I keep meaning to get that Hot Rats vinyl. I love the Ryko version to death but I would love it's 'true' self. Such a vibrant, awesome piece of art.
