Remember the Heavy Metal soundtrack? There was a blue oyster cult song on it called "veteran of the psychic wars". Very similar in music and theme to an old Funkadelic tune called "march to the witches castle" on the album Cosmic Slop.

Hmmm. Never made that connection. I hear what you mean.

A while back I was listening to a lot of Sun Ra. It was all on YouTube so I don't remember any of the names of the songs but I noticed a lot of similarities to parts in Zappa's music. In particular a tune that was like "ripoff" similar to "filthy habits". Anyone know the song I'm talking about?

No. I wish I did.

Dir En Grey's Ryoujoku no ame would be a song I could enjoy if it wasn't for the fact there are some melodic associations with a song of which I hope and pray for the sanity of the world that they never heard of it: Ik Heb De Hele Nacht Liggen Dromen by Wolter Kroes.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGBe2FpO89I sounds suspiciously similar to:

Listening to the harmonies they're similar, but especially at the guitar section 2:20 in. I can't believe it's a coincidence.

Tom Petty dismisses it, but accusations have been made against The Red Hot Chili Peppers?

They sound different to me, but I'm not a musician.

to me the riff from Spiderwoman by Ruben and The Jets sounds super similar to the riff from In France by FZ and the intro to Sparkie, also by Ruben and the Jets, kinda shares the same vibe as the intro to the studio version of Dinah-Moe Humm.

Similar but wouldn't call it plagiarism that easily.
