Last concert I went to this year was Sparks on Oct 28, in Manhattan. It was a great show, although they were touring without a band, just the two brothers. I didn't know that when I bought the tickets, but they pulled it off very well. I had a great time.
Talk about overlooked artists. What a great singer (Russell) and what a great composer (Raymond), with such a sly sense of humor. I used to listen to them in the seventies and then forgot about them. Then about two years back or so, I rediscovered them and all these great albums they've been recording since the nineties. But like Zappa, I guess they're not for everybody. An acquired taste.

Thanks PIB, I actually got many shots, but in all honesty; its not like I was hangin out with them all nite. Just a little while but got to talk to em all, cool guys.

Yeah, really wanted to go myself here in Chicago but couldn't justify shelling out the dough when the antics would be near what I could catch on the boob tube for free. Now if I knew I'd get to hang with them, that'd be a different story!

Here is the type of stuff you missed:
Bubbles performs: Closer to the Heart, Dear Santa Clause ..., Liquor and Whores. Boston

Jim Lahey is Fuckin drunk, arguing with Randy. Julien is pissed, and an appearance by a Masked Man from Parts Unknown.

I saw him a few months ago. I guarantee you'll love it. Not only is he an amazing musician, but he's quite personable and a great showman as well. Enjoy.

Last show of 2013 for me was Clutch in Rochester(12/29), first show of 2014 was Clutch in Buffalo(1/10) :!: One of the few bands that I'll easily go see three times a year if they're in the area. Also caught them last spring in Syracuse.
Coming up:
Roky Erickson w/ The Black Angels 2/8, Beachland Ballroom, Cleveland
Hawkwind in March, if the new date gets announced any day now @ The Beachland
Ken Vandermark in March, Hallwalls, Buffalo
Peter Brotzmann Trio in April @ Hallwalls

Robbie Kreiger's Jam Kitchen is playing a free outdoor concert at the Namm Show in Anaheim California tonight. Tommy Mars and Arthur Barrow are in Robbie's band. Parking would be hell so I think I'll hop on the bus and check it out. 6:30p start. RKJK plays some original jazz songs, Doors tunes and maybe an FZ song or two. In the past they have performed Chunga's Revenge and Cosmic Debris.

Saw 'em in Chicago @ Double Door and was completely blown away! I have trouble of thinking of another "rock" musician from Robbie's era that has excelled so greatly on his instrument and branched out into other styles since his "hey dey". Awesome show - go go go!

Robbie Krieger was great! 90min set. They opened with Chunga's and played Cosmic a few songs later. Special guests were Lee Oscar (War) and Dave Brock (Wild Child). Another key player also sat in. They also had dual windwood players. Riders On The Storm was the Doors highlight for me, as it was perfectly executed.

Arthur Barrow: Is that a real poncho or is that a Namm Show poncho?

I've got my ZPZ House of Blues Anaheim ticket. No soundcheck this time. I guess I only did it last time because Scott Thunes was in the band. And Allan Holdsworth was special guest.

Just saw that Fishbone is playing at Lost on Main in Chico on April 5. This is the same place that the local FZ tribute band For the Love of Frank has played with Ike Willis a couple of times. I will probably check this out. I dig Fishbone, especially the Truth and Soul album.

I also see Ian Anderson will be in Oakland Sept 17 playing his new album plus a best of Tull set. I need to see this one.

This is going to rule. Herb's back in Primus, and Deaner has a new band featuring members of both Ween & Moistboyz  .

Other shows:
The Pack A.D. - 3/21 St Catharines ONT
One of my favorite newer bands. They are two women from Vancouver BC who kick major ass. It's what the Black Keys could sound like if they actually rocked.

Ken Vandermark's Made To Break - 4/18 Buffalo
Peter Brotzmann/William Parker/Hamid Drake Trio 6/8 Buffalo

ZZ Top & Jeff Beck are touring together. No ticket sales yet.

Boy George is touring. Now that's funny. And he's sporting a little goatee along with his make-up.

Coevad - what is your source for a ZZ Top/Jeff Beck tour? I see they're co- headlining a festival in Illinois on August 28th but I don't see anything about an extended tour. That would be a show I would go out of my way to see. As for Boy George, I think the goatee is a bad idea. Facial hair on a girl is never very attractive and George was already not very pretty.

Last I heard Jeff Beck was touring with The Beach Boys. Is this a one off concert with ZZ-Top?
