The sights sounds and smell of these animal processing plants is horrendous. In NZ we have now banned that type of sow crate as seen on the film (twenty years too late). They jam a female pig into the crate, and adjust the size of it as the pig grows. They stand the crate up to force feed the pig, then flip it on its side so the piglets can suckle...the chickens and pigs never see the light of day..Ive seen that type of live chicken grabing tractor malfunction and rip 20 or 30 birds apart before they could get it stopped, the operator told me it happened all the time..the thing that annoyed him wasn't the lose of chickens it was the hassle of the clean up!

Whats for dinner?
yeah... I think I'll have a salad tomorrow...

It's amazing this film was made...the nice people in the factory farms in NZ for the most part, deny what goes on, so lads dressed as ninjas sneak in at night a covertly film the atrocities....which led directly to the pork boys having to get rid of the sow crates because of the public pressure when the film was made public....

yeah, I remember covertly filmed grainy footage (with gruesome images) from slaughterhouses and chicken industries showing up over in europe now and then over the years and making headlines.

the people who made this movie (the link I posted is a trailer) somehow managed to get permission to film all these horrible places.

it looks from the trailer, that this movie also shows how this industry has affected human beings. just look at the asians working in the chicken factory.
imagine doing that job day in and day out... :|

Reminds me a lot of Koyaanisqatsi, which is one of my favorite films of all time, and has a fantastic soundtrack by Phillip Glass.

kool, because 'samsara' (from where the clip comes) is made by the same guy who made 'koyaanisqatsi'; ron fricke.

and, I agree, 'koyaanisqatsi' is a great movie. saw it way back when. I want to see 'samsara' and anything else ron fricke has been involved in.

Koyaanisqatsi is brilliant, but I almost prefer the soundtrack to Powaasqatsi.

Only a completely different note, here's an audience shot video of a rather good unreleased Snakefinger song; pity he never recorded it properly.

(I think it's actually called "Berkeley Encounter Group").
